Being on a Break

A sheep on a break

Taking a break from blogging is nice sometimes, just to give your brain a rest for a few days.  But coming back from the blog break is hard.  That first blog back…what to say, what picture to use, how to be somewhat witty again.  It’s like my brain got stuffed with turkey along with the rest of me.  So this is what you have….the official first blog back from the break is a blog about coming back from a break.  Brilliant.  🙂

Hope all of you are recovering nicely from your Thanksgiving holidays, and getting back into the day-to-day with as much ease as possible.  Or maybe just kick back in your chair like this sheep here and try again tomorrow.  🙂    Slainte, Lisa

‘Tis the Season

Oh boy…it hit me this morning.  The overwhelmingly exciting feeling I get every year at some point that Christmas is coming.  🙂  The little kid, look at the pretty lights, wow-do you see that beautiful tree kind of feeling. The looking out the window, wondering if it will snow a little bit for a white Christmas feeling.   Tomorrow is Thanksgiving, and we will be spending it eating way too much food and laughing and enjoying family.  And then…we will be decorating soon, and turning our old house into a wonderland of fairy lights and green and red and gold.  And although I know Christmas would still be Christmas without all the decorations, it still makes me happy to see the wonder in my children’s eyes as they look at the lights, and when we set up the manger scene and save baby Jesus to put into the manger last.  Christmas…Jesus’ birthday…time to remember and treasure and cherish.  Enjoy every moment and have fun making memories.  Slainte, Lisa

To Love and To Cherish

I just read the story of the monogamous penguins who have been together for 16 years.  And it touched my heart, because it reminds me, once again, of how much humans and animals can love each other and be faithful to each other.  It doesn’t have to be fighting and conflict and division.  It can also be faithfulness and loyalty and patience.  Love that lasts through the hard times, perseveres, and is rewarded with the sweet abiding passion that only comes through time.  The love that is placed in us by God, because we are made in His image. Think of all the countless trips made back and forth solo to find food, and then returning and searching to find the one you love.  Hearing him or her call with their unique voice that you love, and nuzzling happily together after months apart.  So precious.

Read about this happy couple and rejoice.  Slainte, Lisa

Singing Before Breakfast

“To enjoy life you don’t need wealth or power but a song in your heart.”  – unknown

I awoke this morning to the sweet sound of my littlest daughter humming happily in the kitchen.  Not singing to anyone in particular, just humming and making up little tunes happily to herself.  And it is a precious thing.  Those who know me, also know that I am very quiet in the morning, and rarely sing or talk much before I’ve had my breakfast and tea.  But this morning, she inspired me, and as we waited outside in the freezing cold for the bus, she had me singing “Jingle Bells” with her.  🙂

Something about music, about singing, just lifts your spirit and gives the day better wings.  So….go on, you know you want to now….sing something!  The louder the better.  Make people stare and give them something interesting to talk about.  🙂  Slainte, Lisa

“”Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.”  – Ephesians 5:19b-20
