Tricking Myself

rainireland

It’s raining.  It’s Monday.  Hmmm….I could post “Rainy Days & Mondays” by the Carpenters, but that wouldn’t help a bit.  🙂  So I think a little tricking of myself is in order to flip this mood around.  I hereby publish:

The Five Official Reasons to Love a Rainy Day:

1.  The rain makes everything greener, and I love green for sure.

2.  The rain makes me very tired chilled out, which makes for a relaxing day.  And I like relaxing for sure.

3.  The rain sounds cool on my tin roof, and I like cool sounds for sure.

4.  Gene Kelly looks super happy “Singing in the Rain”, and I like watching that for sure.  genekelly

Oh, well, I guess it’s now The Four Official Reasons to Love a Rainy Day.   And four out of five ain’t bad.  Slainte, Lisa

Batten Down, Button Up…Or Not

It’s coming.  The winds that will bring change.  Be it cold front or circumstances…change is inevitable.  And the more I can expect it, be ready for the change, even though it’s relatively unpredictable, the better I feel when it comes.  Here are a few of my favorite quotes on battening down and buttoning up for change.  And sometimes when the winds come, you just need to fling your arms wide and run into the newness.  May God bless you with the wind at your back and the sun shining on your fields.  Slainte, Lisa

“If we don’t change, we don’t grow.  If we don’t grow, we aren’t really living.” – Gail Sheehy

“You must be born again.  The wind blows wherever it pleases.  You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going.  So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.”  – Jesus (John 3:7b-8)

Only thing missing…my sweetie (at work) and the feel of the ocean.  But hey, that’s where a good imagination comes in!  🙂 I love these God-given 72 degree days snuck into the middle of winter!   Slainte, Lisa

Gift from Heaven

gifts

Until yesterday, it has been pretty cold around here, requiring winter coats and heavy sweaters.  But then, out of the clear blue sky, came a 70 degree day, with sun no less!  And we’re going to have another of the same today.  🙂  When one of these days come upon you in the midst of coldness, it makes you immediately want to roll down your windows in the car, turn circles in the grass with your arms outstretched, and move all activities outside, pronto!  A gift from heaven above; God saying in a very small but wonderful way, “I love you; enjoy the day.”  Better than any wrapped gift I can think of.

So excuse me, I’m going to stop blogging now, and get ready to enjoy the day.  (although I’m teaching piano today…can I roll my big piano outside?  🙂 )  Slainte, Lisa

Here’s a lovely rendition of “Count Your Blessings” by Amy Grant & CeCe Winans.  This song helps me see those “heaven gifts” a little clearer.
