The Nature of Truth

The ocean’s ebb and pull in Barbados

If you drop an orange, it will fall to the ground.

Birds are created to fly and soar.

Humans need water to survive.

The sun is hot.

The oceans have their tides.

God is God.

His Word stands forever.

And the truth of His Word does not change, will never change.

Man cannot change the definition of truth any more than he can change the force of gravity.

Unchanging forevermore.

In a world that is writhing in uncomfortable, nonsensical change, hold tightly to God’s Word.

Be brave, be strong, be resolute, in the Power of the Holy Spirit.

Love to you all, Lisa

“But God’s truth stands firm like a foundation stone with this inscription: “The Lord knows those who are his,” and “All who belong to the Lord must turn away from evil.” – 2 Timothy 2:29 NLT

“The entirety of Your Word is truth, and every one of Your righteous judgments endures forever.” – Psalm 119:160 NKJV

Writing When I Don’t Want To

Sometimes I feel just like this tree.  Stoic and strong. But I begin to wonder if the tree could think, if he would sometimes feel blah, uninspired, boring in his sameness.  But then just when you think the tree doesn’t change, it begins.  The green leaves turn yellow, orange, red, brown.  The wind moves the branches to and fro, changing the silhouette on the horizon.  The tree is inspired, inspiring, moving, changing, new.

When I don’t feel like writing, it is usually because I feel blah, uninspired, the same old Lisa, the same old day.  But God is always doing something new in me.  Even if I am unaware sometimes, he is making me slowly into the image of His Son.  My leaves are turning, the Spirit wind is blowing me in different directions.

Sometimes just doing something, even if I don’t feel like it, is a good thing.  I feel better since I wrote this, and I’m not even sure why.  I guess I’m just reminding myself that God is always at work, things are not as static as I feel they are, and that moving into action can keep me propelled in that direction.

Thanks for listening to the rambling writer.

Love, Lisa

Summer Says See You Soon!

DSCN2724

I always get a little sad when summer is leaving.  I am a summer girl…love walking outside with no coat, no gloves….love the water…..love the feeling of the heat on my skin and my face.  But whenever I’m sad about someone or something leaving, I don’t say “goodbye.”  I say “see you soon!”  And the things I love are still there, they are just out of sight for a little while.  Meanwhile, I will try to embrace the cooler air and sweaters re-emerging from dark recessed places of my closet.  The wind will hit my face; I’ll breathe deeply; life is a wonderful gift.  Blessings, Lisa

Fresh Wind of Change

happydog

Usually change terrifies me….but God is doing something new in me.  Changes are coming in our family, and I’m feeling rather exhilarated, excited, anticipatory.  (Plus, I’m wanting to use flowery adjectives, which is not such a good thing.  haha)  New schools, new job, new challenges and schedules.  Not boring, not predictable, and definitely not the same-old, same-old.  🙂  The winds of change are blowing, but I’m not afraid because my good God is in the middle of it all.  Blessings to you today, Lisa

Changing, Yet Remaining

949

I’ve been thinking about change.  Sand dunes blow, shift, rearrange with time, wind, and water.  Yet the essence of the sand dune remains.  It’s still sand; it is still present in some form although maybe different.  Storms blow through all our lives, rearranging things, shifting priorities, helping us to see what’s really important.  Family, friends, Jesus, love, sacrifice for others, giving, smiling, caring….those are the things that remain.  Things may look different, but they are really the same.  “And now these three remain: faith, hope and love.  But the greatest of these if love.” ~1Corinthians 13:13  Hold on to what remains, and know that no matter what changes come into your life, God’s love for you remains steady and unchanging, always.  Slainte, Lisa
