If I am safe in the palm of God’s hand, how safe am I?

Shielded, loved, guided, prayed over, healed, saved.

Very.

I pray that for each of you.  Blessings, Lisa

“See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands.” ~Isaiah 49:16

The Perfect Fortress

meteor2

This morning I awoke to the news of the meteor crashing near the Ural Mountains in Russia…around 1000 people injured from shattering glass and explosions.  We have been to Russia several times and her people hold a special place in our hearts, so I have been praying for them this morning.  Praying and thinking….when things out of our control happen, where do I turn?  Where is my hope?  Jesus is my hope, my strong and mighty fortress that will never, ever change or fall; my future that is steady and predictable and good.

“My soul finds rest in God alone; my salvation comes from Him.  He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will never be shaken.”  – Psalm 62:1-2
Whatever comes your way today, run fast and hide in his fortress; He will protect you and never leave you.  Blessings, Lisa

The Clearing

Storm clouds roll around.  Rain pours.  Wind howls.  Tornado and flash flood watches issued.  The people huddle down, casting fearful and watchful eyes to the skies.  Mercifully, the storm passes with no lasting damage.  The skies clear, revealing crystal clear air that you can breathe all the way to the very bottom of your lungs.  The bluest of skies intermingles with peach and indigo frontal clouds.  Jet streams play and crisscross in those beautiful skies.  The people are joyful and thankful to be here, to be alive in this great gift of a world that God has made.   Slainte, Lisa

“He stilled the storm to a whisper; the waves of the sea were hushed.  They were glad when it grew calm…let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for men.” (Psalm 107: 29-31)

The Long & Skinny of It

I am curious about all the long and skinny windows all over Ireland’s ancient ruins.  At first I thought, the forts would have these thin windows in order to shoot their arrows at the invaders without getting shot back in return.    But I have found them on old churches and abandoned cottages in the woods as well.  Time spent researching this on the internet has proven inconclusive, so the mystery remains momentarily as I keep searching.  The smaller windows might have been easier to construct, and also keep the cold wind and rain out better.  Anyone who has information about this mystery, please enlighten me.  🙂  Meanwhile, here are some pictures…the long and skinny of it.    Slainte, Lisa

This definitely appears to be an arrow slit window in Bunratty Castle.

Traveling Out and About

“The belt of Christ about me on my going out and on my coming in.”

“God be on your road every way you go.”

Irish Blessings

My poor baby fell out of bed this morning around 4 AM.  She’s five, and recently insisted that she was big enough to sleep without the guard rail.  We agreed, but now my mother bear instincts are questionning this.  Her poor little nose took the brunt of it, but thankfully, she seems to be alright.

Letting go, letting your children grow and develop independence, is scary sometimes.  You want to protect them from all the bad things, the hurts, the wrong choices.  You want their life to have the happiest endings possible.  Yet they can never grow up successfully with that kind of hover parenting.  And that’s one of the amazing lessons of parenting…learning to trust God for the times when you can’t be there or shouldn’t be there.  Because He promises to protect, to guard, to do what is best for all of us.

“He protected us on our entire journey and among all the nations through which we traveled.”  (Joshua 24:17b)

Go with God, and know that He is with you today.  🙂  Slainte, Lisa
