The Glorious Groaning

On a day like today, even the trees seem to be groaning, yearning, reaching, stretching for Heaven. It’s like they can’t get close enough to the beauty of what God has created.

I have been filled with a strange and strong longing this week. Yearning for something. The weather has been so gorgeous, and you would think this would produce the opposite effect. Yet this kind of jaw-dropping beauty stands in stark juxtaposition to the ugliness I am seeing on the news. It illuminates the difference between the Here and the What Will Be so clearly. I love being alive on days like this, love experiencing all the amazing blues, and greens, and bird songs. Yet I know that so much better is waiting in God’s Heaven, where there is no more pain, no more weeping, no more conflict. Thus, the groaning.

“We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the first-fruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly, as we wait eagerly for our adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies. For in this hope we were saved.” – Romans 8:22-24a

I am truly thankful that Jesus will make all things right and new when He returns. I am waiting eagerly. Love, Lisa

Unbiased

When a person is analyzing an issue fairly, they look for unbiased truth. No commentary, no opinions, no slant. It is the only way to see a problem and possible solutions in a clear light. One of the most frustrating parts to me of this whole pandemic and the resulting world chaos has been finding the truth. Which news coverage is unbiased? Who has no hidden agenda in their reporting? What can we believe?

I am a person who would definitely like to know these answers. But I truly believe that there are no unbiased news sources anymore, unfortunately. There are news sources that I agree with more than others, but all have their slant, their bias, their worldview.

The only truly unbiased source of truth that I have found is found way outside of the news realm. It is the Lord Jesus Christ, Maker of Heaven and Earth, Judge of all, Savior and Redeemer. He has been here long before we all were, and will be here when the end of this world comes. He will be our God through all of eternity. He will create a new heaven and a new earth, one with no viruses, no bad politicians, no confusion, no pain, no crying. He will wipe away every tear and answer every question.

“I AM the way,

the truth,

and the life.

No one comes to the Father but through Me.” -John 14:6

“Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” – John 8:32

Look for the truth, seek Him, and He will give you peace in these troubled times. Because our times, our histories, our stories, are all in His hands. Love, Lisa

Upheld Even If You Fall

“Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down; for the Lord upholds him with his hand.”

“But the salvation of the righteous is from the Lord; He is their strength in the time of trouble.”      ~Excerpts from Psalm 37

Watching the news is always an alarming thing these days.  Suffering, scary weather, scarier people, hurting people.  One passage of the Bible has been really ringing true for me lately…..Psalm 37.  I encourage you to read the whole thing when you have some time.  Praying for you, for me, for all of us to cling on to Jesus with all we have, because He is what will last in the end.  And the most excellent thing?  As much as we try to cling, He’s got us with his mighty hand and we can’t fall too far.  🙂  Blessings, Lisa

The Perfect Fortress

meteor2

This morning I awoke to the news of the meteor crashing near the Ural Mountains in Russia…around 1000 people injured from shattering glass and explosions.  We have been to Russia several times and her people hold a special place in our hearts, so I have been praying for them this morning.  Praying and thinking….when things out of our control happen, where do I turn?  Where is my hope?  Jesus is my hope, my strong and mighty fortress that will never, ever change or fall; my future that is steady and predictable and good.

“My soul finds rest in God alone; my salvation comes from Him.  He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will never be shaken.”  – Psalm 62:1-2
Whatever comes your way today, run fast and hide in his fortress; He will protect you and never leave you.  Blessings, Lisa
