Thankfulness Through the Mist
Sometimes the way is foggy and it is difficult to see where your feet are headed. Stones cause ankles to turn and progress is limited as you slip slightly backwards on the scree. But finally, you are there. At the top. The view is misty and slightly hazy, but you see it…the lake, the green in the distance, the view of the amazing mountains. You are thankful, you are satisfied, and no amount of mist will stop that from happening.
No matter what mountain you are climbing today and tomorrow, walk on. You may slip some, but you will make it. And the One who made you will bless you and keep you all along the journey. Who knows what wonders you will discover at the top? Be blessed; I am truly thankful for each of you. Lisa
Sunny Vs. Soft Day
Someone recently commented to me that most of my Ireland pictures were taken on cloudy/rainy/soft days. And I responded that for some reason I liked the pictures of Ireland taken on those soft days better than the sunny ones. Although, when we are in Ireland, I appreciate the warm sunny days so much. But there’s something about old castles, craggy mountainsides, and sheep in the foggy mist that hit me as just about perfect. 🙂 What do you think? Comment below. Here are two sets of similar pictures taken on two different days, with very different weather. Enjoy your sunny or soft day today. Slainte, Lisa
Hill, Mountain
Hill, mountain…whichever it is, it is beautiful, rocky, steep, and gives a feeling of forever, permanence. Like the ocean, it points to God and gives me great peace.
It’s not a hill, it’s a mountain
As we start out the climb
Listen for me, I’ll be shouting
Shouting to the darkness
Squeeze out sparks of light (U2)
May God bless your Monday with smooth hills, peace, and sparks of light. Slainte, Lisa
Running Down the Hill
Here is a picture of my oldest daughter running down a hill on Valentia Island. Remember when you were a kid (or maybe you did it yesterday) and it was so awesomely fun to run down a big hill, fast, almost out of control? I do, and I always loved it. What I didn’t love was the feeling at the bottom. I was usually alone, and looking up, there would be this immense (and much bigger suddenly) hill to climb back up. But I’d pluck up my childhood energy and go back up, and then guess what? Sometimes I’d do it again! 🙂
Sometimes I have times in my life that are like running downhill….seamless, effortless, no problems for a time. I’m running, I’m happy, no resistance. Other times are definitely the climbing back up part. I’m trudging, I’m resolved, I have the teeth gritted with determination to finish. But oh, the feeling when I make it back up to the top. The view, the feeling of accomplishment, and the knowing that downhills are coming again.
Whether you’re running down or headed up or simply enjoying the view, may God give you His joy and strength today for the journey. Slainte, Lisa
