“Like every broken wave on the shore
This was as far as I can reach…”
(Every Breaking Wave, U2)
This is Johnny. Don’t ask me his last name, because I don’t know it. But he is awesome. Johnny performs at the Dune Preserve beach bar in Anguilla, as well as some neighboring hotels. His specialty is 80’s/90’s/current pop and rock hits, performed in his own laid-back Caribbean feel. My husband and I could have stayed and listened forever. At the risk of facing eternal internet embarrassment, I’m posting a video of him performing “With or Without You” by U2, with me singing along with my happy beach self. (And yes, that’s the famous Bankie Banks, reggae singer, walking through in the white.) (And yes, the video is on its side, but hey I can’t figure out how to flip it; sorry.) Enjoy, and sing along with him; you may as well join me! Close your eyes, sit back, and imagine the warmth of the Caribbean breezes blowing through your hair. Ahhhh….don’t you feel better? 😉 Lisa
I love this song. The hopeful, joyful, amazing love of God….love has done an unexplainable thing. Feeling thankful this morning. Slainte, Lisa
A Facebook friend recently announced, “I no longer know if I believe in God.” He/she is now publicly and openly debating the existence of God and Jesus in what they feel to be a highly intelligent and logical way. I can’t even think of the words to say; all I feel is utter sadness for this person. To lose hope in the only hope. Jesus is what keeps me going, what keeps me moving and breathing and hoping and living. And I can’t explain it logically to this person; I just know it. So I’m praying for him/her. Because Jesus is strong enough, big enough, loving enough to bring them back to himself. Please join me in praying, for this person and all the others who need that hope, those answers.
“When people say, you know, ‘Good teacher,’ ‘Prophet,’ ‘Really nice guy’….this is not how Jesus thought of Himself. So you’re left with a challenge in that, which is either Jesus was who He said he was or a complete and utter nut case. You have to make a choice on that.” ~Bono
So, so thankful for Jesus. Blessings, Lisa
Yep, I’m a big U2 fan. And yep, we signed the U2 Wall in Dublin. If you look closely at my then 7 year old son’s facial expression, he was rather horrified that his normally law-abiding parents were writing on a wall. Why post this? U2 were guests on Jimmy Fallon’s first show last night, and were fairly awesome. 🙂 Whatever kind of music you like, crank it up and enjoy a song right now. It will help your mood, I promise. Slainte, Lisa
