Success Through the Love Lens

lovelens

Different people have many different definitions for success.  To me, I always view success through a lens of love.

Success vs.  The Love Filter

Lots of money   vs.  Fulfillment in your work

Fancy stuff vs.  A kiss from your spouse in your kitchen in the evenings, cuddling on the couch in your comfy clothes

Fame/Fortune   vs.   Your husband and children thinking you’re the greatest wife/mom/singer ever

Today marks 25 years of being married to the most successful man I know; he has more love than any man could ever hold in one heart.  I love you, Ed, and I can’t wait for the next 25!  🙂 Here’s to the best of adventures together.  Love, Lisa

Contented He’ll Remain

Ever yearn for greener pastures, for things you don’t have, for something different?  We all do sometimes if we’re honest with ourselves.  But in reality, the something different isn’t always what we imagine it to be.  Many different song lyrics come into my mind right now…”What you don’t have, you don’t need it now…”  “But if you try sometimes, you just might find, you get what you need….” and so on.  (Disclaimer:  For those of you who know me, don’t worry…I haven’t been thinking about running away.  🙂  )

Being content and grateful for what’s right around us; a great gift from God.  Here is my very favorite Cara Dillon trad cover of “Spencer the Rover” which illustrates the story of a man who went through hard times, left home, but then dreamed of his family and friends.  He missed them greatly, and returned realizing that they were what he needed all along.  “Contented he’ll remain, and not ramble away.”  Enjoy her wonderful vocals, and her husband Sam Lakeman’s amazing piano playing.  Blessings, Lisa

Meet Nod & Bob

Nod & Bob

I have declared this week to be beach week here on my blog, and to kick it off, I share with you Nod & Bob.  They reside in Half Moon Cay in the Bahamas.  That’s right, they are styrofoam balls, but if you look closely, they have eyes and very cute noses.  My husband and I gave them their eyes when we were happily floating in the crystal blue waters last summer.  (Yes, we defaced the styrofoam, but hey, they look much better now!)  The reason that I share these two characters with you is this:  they are content, they are happy just to nod and bob along on the water.  They are rather tied down to their swimming area containment job, but seem to make the best of it.  They encourage visitors with their pleasant countenance.  And they stick together as friends through it all.

“A friend loves at all times…”  Proverbs 17:17a

“…be content with what you have, because God has said, ‘Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”  Hebrews 13:5b

So if you head down to the Bahamas and see Nod & Bob, please send them our best!

Slainte, Lisa
