A Rocky Morning
It’s been one of those mornings….not smooth, not quiet, not problem-free. I feel like I’m walking in the Burren area of Ireland…you pick your way carefully, rock by rock, carefully placing your feet so you don’t fall down into a crack, and eventually, you come to some smoother rocks and green grass again. But the amazing thing about the Burren is that there are many flowers and vegetation growing in the midst of this craggy landscape. They thrive and ornament in the midst of hardship. I want to be like those flowers, beautiful, providing hope and joy in the midst. Pray for me to be that, and let me know how I can pray for you today. Blessings, Lisa
Leaving Home
For many people, Christmas means travel. Travel from one home to another. From one town to a city. From a huge metropolis out to the country. But it usually entails leaving the place you call home and going out to another place.
Mary and Joseph had to travel on that very first Christmas. They had to leave their hometown of Nazareth and travel many days, with extremely pregnant Mary, on a donkey, to the town of Bethlehem. All the local inns were booked solid, and Mary was going to have the baby soon. The barn that they found themselves staying at was probably not in their plans. But once that precious baby was born, Jesus, Savior for all people, the surroundings were perfect, beautiful, magical, holy. Because Christmas is not about the perfect place, or the perfect home, or the perfect present. Christmas is Jesus. And He makes all things perfect. 🙂 If you don’t have travel plans this Christmas, consider traveling to Bethlehem and that stable. Blessings, Lisa
“Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” ~James 1:17
Feet Upon Feet
Sometimes I get caught up in thinking about all the feet that have come before. For example, the Gap of Dunloe has seen millions of visitors passing through the 11km pass(6.8 miles)for years upon years. That’s a lot of feet, human and horse. So many people enthralled with God’s beauty that holds you so closely that you can almost feel His breath.
God has protected countless numbers of feet for so many years. I am so grateful that my two feet are included in His care. Blessings on your day, Lisa “For You have delivered…my feet from stumbling, that I may walk before God in the light of life.” ~Psalm 56:13
Boundless Hope Dressed in Everyday Clothes
One reason that I love photographs is that they frame life in beautiful, small, graspable visions. Putting the usual in the lens in an unusual or lovely way. Seeing what we think of as ordinary and making it extraordinary. We know that we are surrounded by beauty and joy, but seeing it captured on camera immortalizes it somehow, helps it to stay fixed and perfect in our minds. Hope and joy are around us everywhere; we just have to be able to recognize them in their everyday clothes. Slainte, Lisa
