Canopies of Green

DSCN1180

What is it about a tree that makes us feel so protected and sheltered?  Standing next to a tree, even when I was a little girl, I feel better.  I love to lean up against the strong trunks and gaze up into the lofty green leaves with sunlight diffusing through them. DSCN1232

So today, with Thanksgiving coming up tomorrow, I want to thank God the amazing Creator for all the beauty He made….trees, leaves, oceans, skies of all varieties, the wind on my face.  I am thankful for all of this and more, because when I see and feel these things, it feels like He’s right here, always.  Blessings, Lisa

Exploring

One of the cool things about kids is the way they explore a new place.  They don’t just casually stroll, commenting wisely on the architecture and historical significance; they crawl, climb, touch, jump, and experience. IMG_3168

Always fun (and slightly exhausting!  🙂  ) to watch.  And always a prod for me to see and touch and experience more right along with them.  Today I’m going to try to find at least one new thing to explore!  Blessings to all of you, Lisa

You Matter

“We ourselves feel that what we are doing is just a drop in the ocean.  But the ocean would be less because of that missing drop.”

–Mother Teresa

In case you ever wondered, you matter, a lot.  The wonderful God who created you, also loves you with an everlasting love.  He knows you better than anyone else, will never ever leave you, and has a specific plan for your life.  If you’re still doubting, check it out. 🙂  Psalm 139, Jeremiah 29:11-13, John 3:16, Joshua 1:5.  Have a wonderful day!  Slainte, Lisa

Adventures Await

Another weekend is upon us.  The weekend before Thanksgiving, no less!  The question is….will I succumb to the frantic running about that seems to be inherent to this time of year, or will I try really hard to just breathe, and look at the sky, do what needs doing but no more, and enjoy the beauty and adventure of the day?  As a wife and mom, I definitely feel the pressure of “Oh no, I have done NO Christmas shopping yet!”  and “I really must get ready for the Thanksgiving car trip to family’s home”.  But there is another side of me this year that is resisting…a side that just wants to enjoy what’s right here, right now and not worry so much about what’s way ahead of me.  Because I feel that I’m missing so much of the now.  So right NOW I’m going to look at this picture for awhile, the sea, the rocks, the look of “what am I going to do first” on my children’s faces as they go down the ramp to the beach.  And then, well, who knows?  I will see what the day brings.  Enjoy every single adventure that your weekend holds for you.  Blessings, Lisa

Before the Picture

Cruising around WordPress and oohing and aahing over the beautiful photography has left me wondering…..what happened before those wonderful photographs were captured?  We humans will go to extraordinary lengths to obtain that “perfect” shot, and those smiles we see weren’t always there two seconds before the shutter snapped.  I submit two photographs to make my case.  First shot:  Dingle, Beehive huts, Trying to get into the dwelling for the picture, dear husband hit his forehead hard on the immovable slab stone, letting out a big OWW! and then proceeded to smile his way through the picture.

pic54Next shot:  Cliffs of Moher…Family wants picture of me serenely on the cliffs, I on the other hand, have read all those signs saying to keep away from the unstable and windy edge and am saying, “This is fine….take the picture!”  And then I force the below smile on my face and Voila!

Later, we all look back at the photos and say “Aaahhh…wasn’t that an amazing time”; totally blocking out those moments before.  But that’s a good thing in my opinion; forgetting the bad, holding on to the good, and looking forward to adventures today.  Slainte, Lisa
