What Kind of Light Person Are You?

DSCN0086

This morning, one of my Facebook friends posted pictures of her tree, all beautifully lit in blue lights.  She said, “Yes, we are “those” kind of people who use blue lights!”  I was instantly intrigued….what “kind” of people use what color lights in their home?  My Nannie and Granddaddy always had blue lights on their tree, and it felt so peaceful and calming.  We use clear twinkly lights in our home, but I stare longingly at multicolored lights, giant bulbs, electric candle lights.  I love them all.  So here’s your poll….what color lights do you use in your decorating for Christmas?  And if you care to comment on your deep psychological reasonings for doing so, feel free!  🙂  Slainte, Lisa

Follow The Light

DSCN1510

Christmas is a season full of light.  Sparkly lights on Christmas trees, lit garlands wound up staircases, bright stars, garishly-lit yards with every color light under the sun.  And we are fascinated by them; it’s hard to draw your eyes away.  Seeing the lights, the child in all of us comes out for a moment….”Ooohh, look at that!”

DSCN0005 On the very first Christmas, the three kings from far away lands saw an amazing star…full of light and one that had never been seen before.  It moved them, literally, across many miles in search of the reason for the great wondrous light.  It led them to Jesus, and they worshiped.  They knew that the Light had come.  “When they saw the star, they were overjoyed.  On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him.” ~Matthew 2:10-11a

Search for Him; He’s waiting at the door for you to open it.  And you will see Light like you’ve never seen before.  🙂  Blessings, Lisa

If I Were A Princess

Palm tree

If I were a princess and lived in this tower, I would gaze upon the green surrounding me, watching the waving fronds of the nearby palm tree and happily wile away the hours singing to the nearby birds.

That’s the dream version.  In reality, I would probably be wondering how I was going to manage those steep circular stairs another day, wish for the Prince to come rescue me already, and long for a different view for just a day.

Aren’t we humans funny creatures?  I love to dream, to imagine, to see things sometimes differently than they are.  And that’s ok, because life gets challenging sometimes, and the reality isn’t too fun to look at all the time.  So dream away…big, bold, beautiful dreams.  Slainte, Lisa

Postscript:  I really am a princess….check it out:  “But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.”  ~1 Peter 2:9

“How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called the children of God!  And that is what we are!  ~1John 3:1

Bird On A Winter Beach

DSCN1547

I love winter at the ocean.  Yes, it can be cold and windy, but the beach is empty and ours for just a little while.  Except for the birds who love it all year round.  This little guy was chilling out by the waves (almost looks like he’s napping), and then showed off his amazing flying skills to the camera.

Wherever you are on this Monday morning, breathe deeply of the air around you, see what beauty you can find, and smile. Because we can.  Isn’t life an amazing thing?  🙂  Slainte, Lisa

Thankfulness Through the Mist

Carrantuohill

Sometimes the way is foggy and it is difficult to see where your feet are headed.  Stones cause ankles to turn and progress is limited as you slip slightly backwards on the scree.  But finally, you are there.  At the top.  The view is misty and slightly hazy, but you see it…the lake, the green in the distance, the view of the amazing mountains.  You are thankful, you are satisfied, and no amount of mist will stop that from happening.

No matter what mountain you are climbing today and tomorrow, walk on.  You may slip some, but you will  make it.  And the One who made you will bless you and keep you all along the journey.  Who knows what wonders you will discover at the top?  Be blessed; I am truly thankful for each of you.  Lisa
