September….Where Did You Go?

998 Is it just me, or is time zooming by at the speed of light?  Sometimes I feel like I have stumbled into a time machine unbeknownst, and have zoomed far into the future.  🙂  Yes, it’s October, and the challenge?  To try to savor each moment of each day that God has granted me here in this month.  To enjoy more, to be aware more, to love more, to not miss the blessings as they come.  Pray for me, and I will pray for you.  Slainte, Lisa

What Remains

1089

Sometimes what remains after time is not what was.  Actually, that is true almost all of the time.  But what remains can be beautiful and the changes usually produce a tempered strength and new perspective.

The woman who has gone through years of heartaches and trials…her face has changed but there is wisdom and steadiness, true beauty in her eyes.  She is beautiful.

The man who has faced day after day of work, the routine day in and day out, yet he perseveres in his great love for his family, his need to take care of them.  The years have turned him from boy to man, and he is beautiful.

The home that used to be glossy new, but has faced rain, wind, children’s pounding toys, floods, and time.  The old house now sits with graceful wisdom, having gone through family after family, holding their dreams, their hard times, their togetherness.  It is beautiful.

Time will change all things, but it can be beautiful.   “And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord’s glory, are being transformed, changed,  into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.” ~2Corinthians 3:18

You are beautiful; shine today for God.  You are made in His image.  Blessings, Lisa

Summer Over? No Way!

Today is supposedly the traditional “end of summer.”  A bummer statement if ever I heard one.  Well, here at my home, it is still blazing summer hot with bright sunshine, and we’re all still in our happy summer clothes.  And we’re probably going to stay in our summer clothes until the first frosts are upon us, loving every sunny and warm moment we can.  So…in honor of the wonders of summer, here are a few of my favorite photos.  Enjoy your day.  Slainte, Lisa

P.S.  I just realized that I said the word “summer” 5 times in this post…whoops, now I’ve used it six times!  But as I cannot think of a better synonym, there it stands.  🙂

Oversleeping: A Tale of Contentment and Consternation

overslept
The Setting:  A dark, rainy, overcast, soft morning

The Scene:  All occupants of the house are blissfully sleeping, happy and snug in their nice warm beds under mounds of blankets.

The Precipitating Moment:  Youngest occupant of the house awakens, which alerts the other sleeping people of life past the bedcovers.

Pinnacle of the Action:  Oldest occupants glance casually at the clock and discover, that, oh my goodness, they have seriously overslept!

Predictable and Cliched Outcome:  Mad clash of running around, skipping morning routines, racing heartbeats, leading to eventual calming as bus is made, truck takes off for work.

Lesson Learned:  Double check alarm tonight.  🙂

Have a peaceful and hopefully un-consternated day.  Slainte, Lisa

Time and Eternity

Time is precious; time is fleeting.  Some days go quickly, while others drag on.  Yet the sum of life is short.  But before you get too morose in reading this, there is an answer to this, there is more to our story.  “He has made everything beautiful in its time.  God has also set eternity in the hearts of men.”  (Ecclesiastes 3:11a)  and better yet….

Jesus said to her(Martha):  “I am the resurrection and the life.  He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die.  Do you believe this?”  (John 11:25-26)

What about you?  What do you think?  Do Jesus’ words make you happy and want to dance, or does this freak you out because you don’t want to hear it or believe it?  If its the second choice, just sit on it awhile, don’t make a quick decision.  Because He loves you so much, even if you don’t always feel it.  He wants to give you a hope for your future…an endless future with no ending and eternal joy and peace.  A future where you don’t have to be afraid ever again.  Slainte, Lisa
