Stuff I Don’t Get

There are many things that I don’t get…stuff that evidently is God’s domain, stuff He has reasons for that I just cannot understand.  And on hard days, that just has to be enough.  It’s what I grab onto and hold onto with all my might.  God’s got it…God’s got it.  Some lyrics from U2’s Yahweh song really say it well:

“Take this soul, stranded in some skin and bones

Take this soul and make it sing, sing…

Yahweh…Yahweh….always pain before a child is born

Yahweh…Yahweh….still I’m waiting for the dawn…

The sun is coming out…the sun is coming up on the ocean…

Take this heart, take this heart, and make it break…”

(U2, “Yahweh”, HTDAAB)

He is teaching me something good, and it will be alright.  I’m waiting for the dawn, the sun that I know is coming out over the ocean.  I’ll be there with a big smile on my face and arms open wide to meet it.  Slainte, Lisa

Creation Cries Out

“The beauty of the earth, the beauty of the sky

The order of the stars, the sun, the moon…

Their very loveliness is their confession of God.”

– Augustine

Look!  God is with you, where you are.  All the beautiful things around you are Him saying, “I’m here…I love you.”  🙂  Blessings, Lisa

Where Does Good Music Come From?

Most of you already know this, but I’ll say it again….I love music.  It can set my heart free from the burdens of this world and put me in a better mood almost within a few bars of a good song.  Where does good music come from?  Does it….

..Come from sitting at an instrument, improvising and having fun and then it suddenly comes like a bolt from above?

IMG_1514

..Come from having skilled and talented mixers/recorders/engineers and using the very best that technology offers?

..Come from above, inspired by an amazing Creator God who has made us in His image, able to love and be inspired and create a new thing?

Actually, I think all three are valid and true.  I am totally into a good mic and an awesome effect put on my voice to make it sound just a little cooler than before.  🙂  I love sitting at the piano and playing away, some good and some bad chords until something just hits me.  And I also know, without a doubt, that God above allows me to live and move and do anything that I can do.  “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights…” -James 1:17   Have an awesome week ahead, using the very special and unique gift that you have, to create something new and beautiful.  Slainte, Lisa

The Perfect Fortress

meteor2

This morning I awoke to the news of the meteor crashing near the Ural Mountains in Russia…around 1000 people injured from shattering glass and explosions.  We have been to Russia several times and her people hold a special place in our hearts, so I have been praying for them this morning.  Praying and thinking….when things out of our control happen, where do I turn?  Where is my hope?  Jesus is my hope, my strong and mighty fortress that will never, ever change or fall; my future that is steady and predictable and good.

“My soul finds rest in God alone; my salvation comes from Him.  He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will never be shaken.”  – Psalm 62:1-2
Whatever comes your way today, run fast and hide in his fortress; He will protect you and never leave you.  Blessings, Lisa

Blowing Out the Candle

beachcandle
Tomorrow is this blog’s first birthday…a whole year old!  🙂  When it started, I wasn’t sure how it was going to go….it was all so new.  Like a newborn, I marveled at the process and delighted in the newness.  As time progressed, the blog has been learning to sit up, crawl, and now is beginning to walk.  And with time, the blog is changing, as we all change through life.  It will be interesting to see where it is this time next year when it reaches the “terrible two’s.”  haha  Thank you for sharing this first year with me, for the supportive comments, the love, and the likes.  My wish on the candle?  For blessings for you and your families, and for you to know without a shadow of a doubt how much God loves you.  Slainte, Lisa
