What Remains

1089

Sometimes what remains after time is not what was.  Actually, that is true almost all of the time.  But what remains can be beautiful and the changes usually produce a tempered strength and new perspective.

The woman who has gone through years of heartaches and trials…her face has changed but there is wisdom and steadiness, true beauty in her eyes.  She is beautiful.

The man who has faced day after day of work, the routine day in and day out, yet he perseveres in his great love for his family, his need to take care of them.  The years have turned him from boy to man, and he is beautiful.

The home that used to be glossy new, but has faced rain, wind, children’s pounding toys, floods, and time.  The old house now sits with graceful wisdom, having gone through family after family, holding their dreams, their hard times, their togetherness.  It is beautiful.

Time will change all things, but it can be beautiful.   “And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord’s glory, are being transformed, changed,  into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.” ~2Corinthians 3:18

You are beautiful; shine today for God.  You are made in His image.  Blessings, Lisa

Soon!

692

In a few weeks, I’ll hopefully be sitting back at this piano, trying to capture in digital form what is in my heart.  If any of you remember to say a prayer during that time, beginning August 5, I would so appreciate those prayers.  I just want God to be happy with the cries of my heart, for Him to know how much I love him.  Excited and thankful, Lisa

Expectant

DSCN2521

Sometimes I feel like these docks…expectant, open, waiting for something unknown to come.  Wanting to be stable, content, and steady for whatever does come my way.  Afraid that somehow I’ll give way under the pressure, but God always keeps me grounded in that way He does.  Praying for an open and waiting heart today, that Jesus will bring just the thing He knows is best for me today.  Slainte, Lisa

Deep Calls to Deep

DSCN2463“Deep calls to deep in the roar of your waterfalls; all your waves and breakers have swept over me.”  ~ Psalm 42:7

Certain verses and quotes speak to me profoundly, even though I don’t quite grasp the entirety of what it is trying to say.  At the risk of being redundant, they are too deep.  Like God.  I think I understand Him, but I really only just see the surface, the beginnings of wonderfulness.  There is so much more than what we can see and understand, and that is exciting.  The future is thrilling in its uncertain discoveries.  Comment below and share your thoughts on this verse, how it makes you feel, what thoughts come to your mind.  Blessings, Lisa

Seeing the Ocean for the First Time

Our puppy's first glimpse of the ocean

Our puppy’s first glimpse of the ocean

Do you remember the first time you saw the ocean?  I don’t, but I do remember early sensations of getting used to hot sand on my feet, the roar of the water, the feeling of being somewhere totally different yet comforting in its encompassing world.  The Outer Banks of NC has been my training ground since the age of 3, and the feeling of the sea oats, the dunes, the unpredictable surf is the best medicine to me.  God has used water in my life to draw me closer to Him, to be able to calm down and listen to His voice and His only.  I thank Him for it, for waves and sky and clouds and sand and sounds and salt air.  Whether you’re by the sea or dreaming of it today, thank Him for the things you love.  Lisa
