The Clearing

Storm clouds roll around.  Rain pours.  Wind howls.  Tornado and flash flood watches issued.  The people huddle down, casting fearful and watchful eyes to the skies.  Mercifully, the storm passes with no lasting damage.  The skies clear, revealing crystal clear air that you can breathe all the way to the very bottom of your lungs.  The bluest of skies intermingles with peach and indigo frontal clouds.  Jet streams play and crisscross in those beautiful skies.  The people are joyful and thankful to be here, to be alive in this great gift of a world that God has made.   Slainte, Lisa

“He stilled the storm to a whisper; the waves of the sea were hushed.  They were glad when it grew calm…let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for men.” (Psalm 107: 29-31)

How Will I Spend My Coin?

“Life is a coin.  You can spend it any way you wish, but you can spend it only once.”

-Lillian Dickson

The 5 year old tightly clutches the purse that holds her coins.  Four bright shiny quarters that she has brought to the shopping center.  She wonders what these four coins will bring into her day.  Then she sees it.  The colorful, musical carousel with four gleaming horses traveling in their circular route.  That’s it…that’s what she wants to spend her quarters on.  They clink into the slot, and the child selects the most beautiful horse of all to sit upon.  She smiles and enjoys the ride; the people who watch her enjoy the sheer happiness of this moment, of the beauty of being alive in God’s beautiful world, of seizing the seconds.  When the ride is over, the child and the people are still happy, because they now have a wonderful memory of the music, the smile, and the moment.   Slainte, Lisa

Feeling, Seeing, Hearing, No Words

This isn’t quite me, yet! 🙂

Some mornings you wake up, ready to write your new blog.  You log on, and stare at the “Add New Post” heading.  Nothing.  No theme or topic pops up into your mind.  Uh-oh…it’s going to be a picture only or a video day, you say to yourself.  But, rebelliously, you don’t want that; you want to write something.  You look around…blue skies, green trees, bright sunshine.  All very beautiful and inspiring.  You hear amazing music in your mind, and words and musical textures swirl around, waiting to be discussed at large on the blog.  Still nothing.  You feel a myriad of feelings, some good, some grateful, some confused and anxious.  But you don’t want to share all of that today.

So I continue to stare, and mindlessly type these words, and this is what you get.

Yeah, buddy.

“Sometimes you feel like a nut; sometimes you don’t.”  (Almond Joy commercial, 1970’s)

“We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express.”  (Romans 8:26b)

Enjoy your day, feeling, seeing and hearing…even if you have no words to express it all.  Slainte, Lisa
