The Well-Worn Stairs

This castle hallway in Ireland has been well-used and well-loved over the years.  Now, the castle lies in ruins, yet the memories of what was remain for any visitor who is blessed with an imagination.  Our old house here in the States has some well-worn stairs as well, but I dare say with a bit more foot space left on them.  One of my favorite things to think of is the many feet attached to the many different characters who have run, plodded, skipped and sat upon our stairs over the years.  Stories…memories….life.  Blessings, Lisa

The Beauty of Slow and Steady

I love the tortoise in the “Tortoise and the Hare.”  He never gives up…he believes in his little turtle heart that if he doesn’t stop and just proceeds at his slow and steady pace, he has a chance at beating that egotistical rabbit.  You all know the story….rabbit snoozes, overconfident; and that persistent turtle claims the gold medal.  🙂

I have recently begun working out after a long period of not doing so.  Muscles that have lain dormant for probably all of my adult life are now screaming to life, causing me to have to rest a day between workouts in order to go back and do it again.  But I know I need to be a tortoise, to be slow and steady and persistent.  My body will adjust eventually, right?  haha  I realized last night that just a little bit each time is key; trying not to overdo it and paying later is crucial.  And now I’m going to say it, the wonderful phrase you’ve all been waiting for….”Slow and steady wins the race.”  Pray for me that I will be a good little turtle.  😉  Slainte, Lisa

Batten Down, Button Up…Or Not

It’s coming.  The winds that will bring change.  Be it cold front or circumstances…change is inevitable.  And the more I can expect it, be ready for the change, even though it’s relatively unpredictable, the better I feel when it comes.  Here are a few of my favorite quotes on battening down and buttoning up for change.  And sometimes when the winds come, you just need to fling your arms wide and run into the newness.  May God bless you with the wind at your back and the sun shining on your fields.  Slainte, Lisa

Finding the Beach in the Mountains

My Essential Ingredients for a great beach day:

1.  Warm Sun and Blue Skies – Check

2.  Comfy beach chair and a good book – Check

3.  The  wonderful smell of Coppertone sunblock wafting in the air – Check

4.  A cool drink – Check

5.  Awesome beach tunes, provided via Chesney – Check

6.  The feel of escape (finished piano lessons, and escaped to the outside) – Check

Only thing missing…my sweetie (at work) and the feel of the ocean.  But hey, that’s where a good imagination comes in!  🙂 I love these God-given 72 degree days snuck into the middle of winter!   Slainte, Lisa
