The Impossible Dream, the One That’s Maybe Not So Good

Here’s a picture of my husband’s and my impossible dream.  It’s an abandoned beachside hotel/resort on Barbados’ North Point shore.  Our taxi driver Ralph took us out there, and told us that the hotel had been abandoned and for sale for several years.  More like 10 years plus by the look of the crumbling walls of the hotel.  Yet it was one of those “wouldn’t that be cool” moments you have in your life, where you think “what if we bought it and fixed it and lived on this cliffside in the Caribbean the rest of our lives” moments.  But then reality of the money, money, and more money sank in, and we realized that the dream wasn’t maybe so good after all.  But every time I look at these pictures, it brings a certain thrill again.  Maybe this place is calling to one of you!  heehee  🙂  Slainte, LisaNorth Point Hotel, Fixer upper hotel For sale in Barbados for sale at Barbados Property Search

Protection

DSCN0818When you are in the Caribbean, sun protection is crucial.  The sun is warm and beautiful and relaxing, but can also pack quite a punch on your skin.  So the weathered palm branch huts, the sheltering trees along the edges of the soft white beaches, all provide that welcomed protection after swimming in the perfectly clear blue waters for a while.

When I was younger I used to see God’s guidelines as restrictions, laws, things that were no fun and not very loving.  But with time, I now see that God’s guidelines are full of love, protection, mercy, and grace.  Because He loves me, He wants me to be safe, to be protected.  How wonderful.  Like sitting under a big palm tree on a hot sunny beautiful day.   Slainte, Lisa

The Oncoming Storm

Beautiful Anguilla

Beautiful Anguilla

I much prefer this kind of storm to the one that’s coming our way tonight.  This storm had warm winds, rain that cooled hot skin, and turbulent green-blue water.  This other one, Pax, is supposedly going to have lots of cold white stuff that just keeps coming to the tune of 8-12 inches.  And I know that I should have a good attitude, love whatever comes my way, but I’m just not there.  So I’ll do my usual distraction technique and look at pictures like this, pretend, dream, and before I know it, Pax will be a memory.  For those of you who love snow, my apologies.  For those of you who are feeling like me, happy dreaming.  😉  Slainte, Lisa
