What You’re Looking For

DSCN3980

There is an old saying, “You will find what you are looking for.”  This reminds me of the time my husband and I were looking for a certain castle near the Burren.  We thought we had followed the inconspicuous signs correctly, and we pulled up in front of an impressive building full of hope and upcoming adventure.

We knocked and tried to gain access to said castle, and finally a very nice gentleman came to the door and asked if he could help us.  We asked to take a tour of the castle, and he politely told us that this was a private home.  🙂

In our minds, it was a castle, and looked like a castle.  To the man who lived there, it is his castle.  So, I guess it’s a castle.

What we look for is often what we find.  Good or bad….a lot of times it is how we choose to look at something.   Love, Lisa

P.S.  By the way, if you are reading this, and this happens to be your home….it is beautiful!  🙂

Things of the Light

I love castles, but they can be rather dark affairs inside.  When the light floods in, through an open doorway, exposed crack, or window, it is a glorious thing.  You realize how very much you were craving the light, needing it, waiting for it.

Here is Donegal Castle in Ireland to illustrate.  Note to where your eye is drawn.  The light illuminates all else, reveals the beauty.

I can focus on the darkness, or I can focus on the light.  And I choose the light.  Love, Lisa

“The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it.” -John 1:5

“I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in me should stay in darkness.” (Jesus) – John 12:46

Rock,Water, and Wind Things

115

Power of God crashing right up against each other.

The waves, relentless in their pursuit of the shore, rolling, tumbling, crashing.

The rocks, steady, ancient, solid, holding fast.

The wind, roaring, searching, cleansing.

I will fix my mind today on the things that do not, will not, change.  God things.

Love, Lisa

Riding the Waves

The wave lifts, you feel your board rise, then with a great surge of power, you drop and the force of the great water propels you to shore like a rocket.

That is how it felt to me when I caught a perfect wave.  I was never a surfer, but would boogie board for hours at a time in times past.

Confronted with big waves, waves that were taller than me, I had four options:

  1.  Dive under it.
  2.  Jump over it.
  3.  Go back and sit on the shore.
  4.  Get past the break line, and turn and line up for the ride.

Lately, my life is pretty much the big waves.  They seem a bit scary, but they are also beautiful.  Powerful and alive.  I have the same four options.  If I can manage past the break line, power through with God’s power, turn and look around me, I will be on top of the wave.  His strength will propel me to shore, and what a ride it will be.

Praying God’s power for you today as you paddle past the break line.  Love, Lisa

A Different Plane

Scenario:  Dismal looking day, dark and foreboding clouds overhead.  You settle into your airplane seat, buckle up, and say several prayers for safety through the weather.

The plane taxis, lifts, and ascends through the clouds. Bumps and turbulence along the way cause your heart to lurch several times.

Fifteen minutes later, you are above the cloud level.  The sky is brilliantly clear; sunlight all around.  No turbulence and clouds look angelic below your wings.  You can hardly believe it is the same day, the same sky.

Present Day:  I choose today to look beyond the clouds, beyond the turbulence and the worry.  To look up to the One who controls the skies and flight.  The Lord Jesus alone gives peace.
