Being on a Break

A sheep on a break

Taking a break from blogging is nice sometimes, just to give your brain a rest for a few days.  But coming back from the blog break is hard.  That first blog back…what to say, what picture to use, how to be somewhat witty again.  It’s like my brain got stuffed with turkey along with the rest of me.  So this is what you have….the official first blog back from the break is a blog about coming back from a break.  Brilliant.  🙂

Hope all of you are recovering nicely from your Thanksgiving holidays, and getting back into the day-to-day with as much ease as possible.  Or maybe just kick back in your chair like this sheep here and try again tomorrow.  🙂    Slainte, Lisa

Infusion of the Life Force

My husband and I used to act out a scene together from the play “To Gillian on Her 37th Birthday” that said:  “I need an infusion of ze life force!”  For some reason, we always liked that part and laughed a little too much, and still quote it today at random moments.  Usually when we’re tired and exhausted.  Well, I feel that way this morning; definitely needing a big life force infusion, pronto.  Of course, I have the caffeine from my morning tea already in full swing, but more life force is definitely needed.

I need the Source of life, the One who made me, who knows me, who loves me unconditionally.  Jesus.  He said, “I am the bread of life.  He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty….The Spirit gives life.”  (John 6:35, 63a)

As Sheryl Crow sings in her song, “The Light in Your Eyes”:

You gotta talk to the One who made you
Talk to the One who understands
Talk to the One who gave you all the light in your eyes
All the light in your eyes                                                  (c2004 Sheryl Crow)

Right about now I could make a lame reference to “May the Force be with you,” but I will refrain.  Oh wait, I already said it.  🙂  Have a wonderful, blessed, God-filled day.  Slainte, Lisa

Sheep Talk, Or We Will Be Gathered

We are going to be gathered…into the beauty that is Ireland in 2013.  🙂  Ed & I have been saving for our 25th anniversary next year.  At first we thought that we should visit some other beautiful parts of the world, like Italy or the Greek Islands.  But the pull was great, and the parts of Ireland that we’ve never seen were greater still, and we knew there was nowhere else we’d rather be. So we’re going back to check out the Northwest…Sligo, Donegal and a few places inland that we’ve yet to explore.  So if any of you locals know of some great places to see, please chime in!

I dearly hope that we have a sheep experience like this one…I laughed so hard watch these sheep run down the hill towards his car.  Enjoy watching these beautiful creatures attempt to see if this guy has any food.  (It’s either that, or the sheep are training for the big marathon. 🙂 )  Slainte, Lisa

He Who Laughs, Laughs Better Together

“A joyful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.”                   – Proverbs 17:22

“If we couldn’t laugh, we would all go insane.” – Robert Frost

I have noticed something; I laugh much more, louder, and deeper when I am with other people.  Now you would think that this would be obvious, but the other night my husband was traveling and I decided to watch reruns of “Everybody Loves Raymond” to have a good laugh and relax before bed.  After all, upon previous watchings, my hubby and I would laugh almost to the point of crying.  However, I watched this time quietly, almost vegetatively.  I was happy somewhere on the inside, felt amused at times, but there was no laughing out loud, guffaws, etc.  Why was that?  I felt somewhat mad at myself for my lack of outward enjoyment.  (as I always feel so much better after I laugh for awhile 🙂  )

It’s the companionship that was missing.  The other person that’s with you that is also laughing at the same thing, or starts the laughing, and then you can’t help but join in.  The laughter that continues long after the punch line, until you don’t really know why you’re laughing anymore.

So now hubby is back home, happily, and last night we watched a show and laughed and laughed.  And it felt great.   Slainte, Lisa
