Summer Over? No Way!

Today is supposedly the traditional “end of summer.”  A bummer statement if ever I heard one.  Well, here at my home, it is still blazing summer hot with bright sunshine, and we’re all still in our happy summer clothes.  And we’re probably going to stay in our summer clothes until the first frosts are upon us, loving every sunny and warm moment we can.  So…in honor of the wonders of summer, here are a few of my favorite photos.  Enjoy your day.  Slainte, Lisa

P.S.  I just realized that I said the word “summer” 5 times in this post…whoops, now I’ve used it six times!  But as I cannot think of a better synonym, there it stands.  🙂

Hold fast your dreams!

Within your heart keep one still secret spot

Where dreams may go

And sheltered so, may thrive and grow.

-Louise Driscoll

Dreams, plans, hopes….intangible things that provide great hope in a person.  It’s very easy to let go of dreams when life gets busy and hectic, but I believe that God places the good and right dreams and hopes in a person…His plan for each person is different and perfect.  “But those who plan what is good find love and faithfulness.” (Proverbs 14:22) “Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed.”  (Proverbs 16:3)

Now sometimes dreams don’t work out, but I believe it’s because we can’t see the bigger perspective that God sees…He knows the very best thing for us, and sometimes we’re too close and can’t see it.  But later on, down the road, we will.  So I’m challenging myself to hold on and cherish those dreams God has placed inside me, to live with hope and plans and a future, committing myself to Him and holding on for the awesome ride.  🙂  Slainte, Lisa

Dolphins Dancing for Joy

I just saw this on Irish Central and had to share it.  These dolphins are so happy and full of joy; it will make you smile to watch them.  They were off the coast of Donegal, and the article said it was rare to see this many dolphins in this area.  Watch for the mother/baby swimming around around the 1:00 minute mark, and also the beautiful still shots in the sunset starting around 3:00 minutes.

“So God created the great creatures of the sea and every living and moving thing with which the water teems..” (Gen. 1:21)     🙂  Slainte, Lisa

Not Random Occurrences

“You do a great injustice to dismiss these blessings from God as random occurrences…don’t discard God’s boundless love as mere coincidence.  His Presence is everywhere for eyes that see and ears that hear.  Keep your journey on the way of the pilgrim.”  – Brother Malachy, a character from the book The Last of the Donkey Pilgrims by Kevin O’Hara

I’m going to try to keep my ears and eyes open today.  God is whispering and sometimes shouting to me how much He loves me and wants to be closer to me.  I want to hear and see Him when He does.  Slainte, Lisa

“A Living Worth Scraping”

Something different for today’s blog.  I saw this video by Mickey Smith, a surf photographer from Ireland, and it was amazing.  I had to post it for all of you to watch.  I could never do what he does, but it sure is awe-inspiring to see the power of the ocean and the waves.

DARK SIDE OF THE LENS from Astray Films on Vimeo.

A couple of quotes from the video that I liked:

“If I am to scrape a living, at least it’s a living worth scraping.”

“My heart bleeds Celtic blood.”

“Ma always encouraged us to open our eyes and our hearts to the world. Make up our own minds by experience and be inspired.”

“See life in angles and lines of perspective. A slight turn of the head, the blink of an eye, subtle glimpses of magic…”

Live life today, looking for glimpses of God that are all around you, just blink & look.
