By Killarney’s lakes and fells,
Emerald Isles and winding bays,
Mountain paths and woodland dells,
Mem’ry ever fondly strays;
Bounteous nature loves all lands;
Beauty wanders everywhere,
Footprints leaves on many strands,
But her home is surely there!
Angels fold their wings and rest
In that Eden of the west,
Beauty’s home, Killarney,

What do I know? I laughingly say that I am learning that I know very little. 🙂 When I was in my 20’s, I prided myself on being an educated, intelligent person who felt she could figure out most things if given enough time. But I tell you, as the 30’s and now 40’s are rolling by, I don’t know as much as I thought I did. And if nothing else will do it, parenting will show you quickly that you really can’t control everything and figure everything out. Life is a complicated business, with more turns and thrill hills than a rollercoaster.
What do I know? I know that I love my family, my friends, music, God. I know that I am thankful that my dog is laying on the floor next to me as I write this. I know that a little bird is singing his head off outside my window. And I know that “neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8:38-39) And that’s enough to know. Sometimes when I look at something that’s ahead of me, whether it’s a literal mountain hike or one of life’s other hurdles, it looks huge. Gigantuan and overwhelming. But if I can just start, just put one foot in front of the other and begin, little by little it usually gets done. And then looking back later, I realize it really was more of a hill and I shouldn’t have had the big freak out. 🙂 Here are some of our favorite hills/mountains that we have tackled. Step by step.
