Love Like Waves
Love is like waves…..endless, beautiful, eternal, deep.
Waves can sooth because of their eternal nature.
Waves can carry you because of their properties.
Waves can be calm, playful, or stormy.
Waves can leave you breathless because of their great power.
Waves drown out all else because of their beauty and sound and being.
Waves can fill you up with God’s love, God’s voice, God’s power.
Love, true love, real love is like waves.
Lord, let me love like waves…..endlessly, relentlessly, unconditionally, eternally.
Christ in me, Christ before me, Christ behind me.
Christ to my left, Christ to my right.
Like the waves.

If stones could talk, I bet they’d say
Just sit and listen to our day
The things we’ve seen, the people here
Could make you laugh and cry and cheer
History comes, history goes
But we have stood and never show

Pushing Through
Sometimes I can be my own worst enemy. That little voice inside my mind that tells me all manner of negative things.
“No one wants to hear what you are thinking/writing, so why say it?”
“You are not a good writer.”
“There are so many books in the world, why write another one?”
“What I am saying is not original/interesting/witty enough, etc.”
And on and on and on it goes. Things the devil wants me to think, to shut me down, to keep me from being the person God created me to be.
I have a choice. I can choose to listen and shut down, or remind myself and push through. Listen to lies or listen to truth. Not that I am the greatest writer in the world….I am not saying that. But all of us have something to say, some truth that God is revealing in our lives, something that might encourage someone else who is going through something similar.
Here are some things God says about me (and you):
“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” – John 3:16
“The LORD your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.” -Zephaniah 3:17
” There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.” -1John 4:18
“I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.” – Philippians 4:13
“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power.” – Ephesians 6:10
And on and on and on it goes. Praise God. I choose today to listen to Him and to His Word and to His love. I am so thankful.

The Truth about Joy on a Rainy Monday Morning
Truth time.
The facts of this morning in my corner of the world:
- It’s raining….and has been raining for many days in Virginia.
- It’s Monday morning….enough said.
- I slept poorly last night, with many upsetting dreams.
- I want to eat toast and jam, but am trying to avoid sugar for ankle issues.
So….with these circumstances seemingly stacked against joy, I am trying my best to find very little things that bring joy. So far this morning:
- Warm Irish tea in a big mug.
- My favorite ever-present morning omelette.
- I made myself get on the exercise bike, reluctantly. But now I feel better.:)
- Singing some music, loudly. The two that made me feel the best this morning….”Amen (Reborn)” by for King and Country…..and “Happy Together” by The Turtles.
- Writing this blog. Always helps me feel better.
