God, and eternal hope.” – Maltbie D. Babcock

I love quotes like this.  Words to stimulate my sluggish morning mind into wonder, action and appreciation for blessings that I would otherwise take for granted or ignore.  I pray that you are blessed today.  Slainte, Lisa

I say no, to all of the above.  The essence of what something is does not change based on changing circumstances.  Our family’s favorite expression is “It is what it is.”  That can be used to express that you can’t fight against what you can’t change.  But it also can be used to say that what God created something to be is what it basically is.  Although the thing/person can change and adapt to changes, and with God’s help, keep living life in abundance.

Rejoice in who you are, right now, with whatever God’s given you.  You are special and just right in His eyes.  Blessings, Lisa

With A Little Help

friends dock

We Americans tend to be rugged individualists, and that can be a good thing and a bad thing.  Sometimes it’s good to work hard and stand without needing constant assistance.  But sometimes, we all need other people.  We need their encouragement, their laughter and smiles, and their help.  To help us stand a little taller, ease the burden for a little while, and let us know we are not alone.

So today, I am thankful for those people in my life….my husband, my parents, health care people, friends, and the list could go on and on.  Because “sometimes you can’t make it on your own.”  (U2, Sometimes You Can’t Make It On Your Own, HTDAAB)  Thank you so much for helping me in this journey; you all make it much better. 🙂  Slainte, Lisa

“How precious to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them! If I would count them, they are more than the sand. I awake, and I am still with you. ”         – Psalm 139: 17-18

Rejoice in the wonder and joy of it all.  Blessings, Lisa

Jenga and Life

We love the game “Jenga” at our home.  The thrill of finding that loose piece, and then placing it on top without making the tower fall, is a simple thrill that makes us all happy.  Near the end, you end up practically holding your breath so that tower will stay up and in one piece.  “Don’t fall, don’t fall,” is the constant refrain.

But eventually, it falls.  And guess what?  We rebuild the tower and start again.

The obvious comparison is there in our lives.  We eventually fall, or fall short, in some way.  We can’t be perfect all the time (or even some of the time) and stand straight and tall and unwavering forever.  But the amazing news is that Jesus will pick us back up, dust us off, and let us start the game over totally new with His strength.

“The Lord is faithful to all his promises and loving toward all He has made.  The Lord upholds all those who fall and lifts up all who are bowed down.”  -Psalm 146:13b-14

Don’t give up; the tower can be rebuilt.  Blessings, Lisa
