Time and Eternity

Time is precious; time is fleeting.  Some days go quickly, while others drag on.  Yet the sum of life is short.  But before you get too morose in reading this, there is an answer to this, there is more to our story.  “He has made everything beautiful in its time.  God has also set eternity in the hearts of men.”  (Ecclesiastes 3:11a)  and better yet….

Jesus said to her(Martha):  “I am the resurrection and the life.  He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die.  Do you believe this?”  (John 11:25-26)

What about you?  What do you think?  Do Jesus’ words make you happy and want to dance, or does this freak you out because you don’t want to hear it or believe it?  If its the second choice, just sit on it awhile, don’t make a quick decision.  Because He loves you so much, even if you don’t always feel it.  He wants to give you a hope for your future…an endless future with no ending and eternal joy and peace.  A future where you don’t have to be afraid ever again.  Slainte, Lisa

The Sea Rolls On

Gazing off the coast from Doolin

“The Sea Rolls On”

Oh, the sea rolls on like our God in heaven above

He goes on and on, never leaving, never tiring

Oh, the mighty Love of God reaching down to us

Oh, the sea rolls on like our God in heaven above

The Clearing

Storm clouds roll around.  Rain pours.  Wind howls.  Tornado and flash flood watches issued.  The people huddle down, casting fearful and watchful eyes to the skies.  Mercifully, the storm passes with no lasting damage.  The skies clear, revealing crystal clear air that you can breathe all the way to the very bottom of your lungs.  The bluest of skies intermingles with peach and indigo frontal clouds.  Jet streams play and crisscross in those beautiful skies.  The people are joyful and thankful to be here, to be alive in this great gift of a world that God has made.   Slainte, Lisa

“He stilled the storm to a whisper; the waves of the sea were hushed.  They were glad when it grew calm…let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for men.” (Psalm 107: 29-31)

Can You Teach Joy?

I am a part time piano and voice teacher, and fall lessons begin today.  Little people, small individuals made by God will move in and out of my home, learning notes and rhythms and hand positions and breathing exercises.  But will they learn to love the gift of music, will they catch the joy that is in it by my words, by my smiles, by the encouragement that they really can do it?  Because that is my greatest desire…not that they come out of here as musical prodigies, with perfection oozing from their musical pores.  I want them to have joy when they play and sing; I hope that they feel closer to the God who loves them when they sit at the piano or sing in their room.  And only then will I be a good music teacher.  Slainte, Lisa

“Shout for joy to the Lord all the earth…come before him with joyful songs.” – Psalm 100:1-2

Light

In all these photographs, I am drawn to the light.  I want to be in the green place, the place with sunlight warming my skin, the place where I can see clearly.  When a child or any of us feel afraid, we are drawn to put on a light, and it calms us.

“Walk while you have the light, before darkness overtakes you.  The man who walks in the dark does not know where he is going.  Put your trust in the light while you have it, so that you may become sons of light.” – Jesus, John 12:35b-36

“I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in me should stay in darkness.” – Jesus, John 12:46

“I am the light of the world.” – Jesus, John 9:5b

“In Him was life, and that life was the light of men.  The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it.”  -John 1:4-5
