Breathe Deep

Walking to the ocean, whipped by the wind and salt and mist.  The closer you get, the more you feel the resistance and push of the wind.  Crossing the top of the dune, you see the angry but beautiful waves.  Covered with sea foam and white caps, with no discernable rhythm to the waves.  Only sheer noise and crashing and power.  God’s power.  You hear Him again, telling you that He is in control, even of a seemingly uncontrollable ocean.  You breathe deeply, the way you’re only able to at the ocean.  The wind almost takes that breath away, but then you feel it.  Relief and peace and clarity.  This world is a gift from the One who loves you, but yet there is so much more than what you can see.  He has made more, and you will be there with Him one day, and that deep breath will go on and on and on.  Slainte, Lisa

Prayers

This morning, as I am reading all the forecasts and projections for Hurricane Sandy’s landfall, I am also praying.  Not a big fancy prayer, but simple, short sentences that fill my mind as I read.  “Help them, God.”  “Please give everyone safety.”  Here in Virginia we’re looking at lots of rain and some wind gusts tonight into tomorrow.  But wherever you are right now, be thankful that you are safe and reading this, and hug those that may be close by, or at least tell them that you appreciate them.  Because anytime that things like this come along, it’s a wake-up call that our God-given life is precious, and that moments are precious, and that it is such a blessing to be here together.  Be safe, and be God’s.  Slainte, Lisa

“Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble, and He brought them out of their distress.  He stilled the storm to a whisper; the waves of the sea were hushed.  They were glad when it grew calm, and He guided them to their desired haven.”  (Psalm 107:28-30)

Peace Amidst

“The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands….there is no speech or language where their voice is not heard. “

-Psalm 19:1,3

A bit of peace and beauty for your Tuesday morning.  These auroras are truly magnificent. Watch in wonder.   Slainte, Lisa

Time and Eternity

Time is precious; time is fleeting.  Some days go quickly, while others drag on.  Yet the sum of life is short.  But before you get too morose in reading this, there is an answer to this, there is more to our story.  “He has made everything beautiful in its time.  God has also set eternity in the hearts of men.”  (Ecclesiastes 3:11a)  and better yet….

Jesus said to her(Martha):  “I am the resurrection and the life.  He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die.  Do you believe this?”  (John 11:25-26)

What about you?  What do you think?  Do Jesus’ words make you happy and want to dance, or does this freak you out because you don’t want to hear it or believe it?  If its the second choice, just sit on it awhile, don’t make a quick decision.  Because He loves you so much, even if you don’t always feel it.  He wants to give you a hope for your future…an endless future with no ending and eternal joy and peace.  A future where you don’t have to be afraid ever again.  Slainte, Lisa

The Solace of a Sweet Song

The sound of a sweet voice singing a pleasing tune can bring amazing peace and solace to the soul.  This is Marianne Knight from Celtic Crossroads; she has an interesting mix of celtic & appalachian in her voice.  Enjoy “Ned of the Hill.”  It sounds better if you close your eyes and just listen.  Slainte, Lisa
