Happy in the Rocky Places

Antigua

Antigua

I’ve always been impressed by trees and flowers that can hang on and thrive in rocky inhospitable places.  At first, I begin to feel sorry for them, but then I realize that that is ridiculous, as these strong little miracles are amazing, and strong, and happy where they’re planted.  The wind blows, the soil is far down, but they grow deep roots and grow.  And they tell us so much.  🙂  Slainte, Lisa

Somewhere Over the Rainbow

DSCN0814

Somewhere, this beach, these chairs are waiting…

Waiting for work-weary bodies to sink down into them

Waiting for the island breezes to blow

Waiting for the surf to tickle their legs and wash away the weight

Waiting, peacefully with no worries

Have a blessed weekend.  Slainte, Lisa

Birds In a Bush

These beautiful snowy egrets are plentiful on St. Kitts in the Caribbean.  Delaney, our taxi driver, said that these birds had been brought onto the island to get rid of tics.   I think that if they would be happy in my yard, they would be a welcome sight here in Virginia.  Tics, be gone!  🙂  Have a wonderful day.  Blessings, Lisa

The Murmur of the Water

DSCN0598

“Rest is not idleness, and to lie sometimes on the grass under the trees on a summer’s day, listening to the murmur of the water, or watching the clouds float across the sky, is by no means a waste of time.” – J. Lubbock

Resting is hard when you’re an adult.  Working at your job, cleaning, cooking, child-rearing….you get the idea.  But oh, the blessedness of rest when it comes.  You see the clouds and the sky, as if for the first time in weeks.  You take deep breaths, loving the way the air feels in your lungs.  You feel your feet sinking down into the sand, or the green green grass.  You sense that God is right there with you, saying, “Peace, my sweet child; just rest now.”  And you are thankful and recharged.  Take a few moments (or longer if you can manage) to just rest and enjoy breathing and living for a little while today.  Blessings, Lisa

“This is what the Lord says: ‘Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls.’ ”  – Jeremiah 6:16
