Praying

Oklahoma

Yesterday was a rough day…sad news from Oklahoma, sad news from friends, worries about others.  It drove me to praying pretty quick.  I know that many of you are doing the same thing.  And I’m also praying that I keep praying…that I don’t forget to keep lifting these people up in the days to come.  Blessings, Lisa

“O Lord, the God who saves me, day and night I cry out before you.  may my prayer come before you; turn your ear to my cry.” – Psalm 88:1-2

“From the ends of the earth I call to you, I call as my heart grows faint; lead me to the rock that is higher than I.  For you have been my refuge, a strong tower…” – Psalm 61:2-3

Amazed, Awestruck, Awesome

“The more I study nature, the more I am amazed at the Creator.” – Louis Pasteur

“Go outside, to the fields, enjoy nature and the sunshine, go out and try to recapture happiness in yourself and in God.  Think of all the beauty that’s still left in and around you and be happy!” – Anne Frank

“The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it.”  – Psalm 24:1

Have a blessed and happy weekend.  Slainte, Lisa

Sole Check

What are you walking on this morning?  Flip-flops, scruffy house slippers, sensible lace-ups, or teetering high heels?  Now check out your soles…are they in good shape, or are they wearing down in places?

“If you have one pair of good soles, it’s better than two pairs of good uppers.” – Irish proverb

It’s no use carrying an umbrella if your shoes are leaking.”  – Irish proverb

umbrella feet

Just like our shoe soles, our life’s soul can get worn down too.  Hardships, weariness, illness can all wear us out and make us feel like we have soggy shoes.  When I get like this, and I do, I know I need to take a step back from life, and focus on being thankful, even for the bad stuff, because it means that I’m alive.  That God still wants me here for a purpose of some kind, and that’s  a great thing.  He’s my foundation, my good sole for my shoes.

“Everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.  The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.”  -Matthew 7:24-25

May your feet be safely on the Rock today.  Blessings, Lisa

I Will Not Fear
c2012 Lisa Lyons

I will not fear for You promise to stay by me

Who can I fear when You’re by my side?

You are my strength, giving me song

Keeping me safe in Your arms…

Help me to run to You when I feel scared and all alone

Knowing You’ll hide me safe within Your shadow

Let me love the way You love me, open my eyes to see

You desire only good for me…

I will not fear for You promise to stay by me

Who can I fear when You’re by my side?

Blessings to you for a weekend that is full of love, friends, family, and may you know without a doubt that the love of God is all around you.           Slainte, Lisa

Spring Is Coming

DSCN0279

Before these precious little crocuses in my yard get squashed by the 6 to 12 inch snow the forecasters say is coming, I wanted to share them with you.  Spring is coming…the flowers and budding trees and green grass and warmth on our faces.  I have to tell you, I’m not a big snow fan, but I know complaining and moaning about it will only make it worse.  :/  So I’m going to focus on what I know is ahead, past the other side of the wet stuff.

There’s a great song by Steven Curtis Chapman called “Spring Is Coming” that he wrote when he and his family were facing very hard days.  There are seasons, and after the hard times have passed, the warmth will return.  It’s coming.  🙂  Blessings and love, Lisa
