Hop, Hop, Hop

Once I saw a little bird
Go hop, hop, hop,
So I said: – little bird,
Will you stop, stop, stop?

Then I was going to the window
To say “How do you do?”
But he shook his little tail,
And away he flew!
(Nursery Rhyme)

I spent many a wonderful moment this morning watching a group of robins hopping about in our late winter yard. Their deep rich orange breasts moved up and down, as their tiny feet propelled them through the short yellowed winter grass.

One would hop a few feet, look about, and then his mate would follow shortly behind him. No flying at all from any of them, just hopping, looking, and hopefully, eating something.

It seemed a good sign to me, that indeed, spring is on its way.

“He rocks in the treetops all day long, hoppin’ and a-boppin’ and singing his song

All the little birds on Jaybird Street love to hear the robin go tweet-tweet-tweet

Rockin’ robin (tweet-tweet-tweet), rockin’ robin (tweet-tweedilly-tweet)

Go rockin’ robin ’cause we’re really gonna rock tonight.” – Jimmie Thomas

Hop on, little robins, hop on. 🙂 Love, Lisa

Counting the Shades of Green

County Antrim
Near Portmagee, Co. Kerry
Springtime in Virginia

How many shades of green can you count?

This is officially the time of year for me when I yearn for greens, for yellows, for color. So I look at our photographs, and remind myself that, yes, spring is coming.

It’s almost here….hang on. Love, Lisa

Spring Will Come

DSCN3185

Virginia in the spring

Winter is difficult for those of us with chronic pain.  Cold does not agree with already stiff and painful joints.  But every step we are taking is bringing us one step closer to Spring.  It is right there, beneath the ground, ready to spring forth with blossoms, breezes, wafts of fragrance.

New life.  New dreams.

“Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed,

for His compassions never fail.

They are new every morning;

Great is your faithfulness.

I say to myself, ‘The Lord is my portion;

Therefore I will wait for him.’ ”

-Lamentations 3:22-24
