To The Hills

Ireland 2_0050

“I lift my eyes to the hills – where does my help come from?  My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.  He will not let your foot slip – He who watches over you will not slumber.”  ~ Psalm 121:1-3

May your feet be steady and sure, taking every step knowing that God’s got you.  Slainte, Lisa

Viewing History

IMG_3412

Hundreds of years past today, our descendants will look back at 2013 and ponder, pontificate and conjecture about our culture, our political movements, our ancient houses and inventions, which by then will be obsolete.  Which rather freaks me out, as it’s hard to think past tomorrow, much less hundreds of years from now when I am singing and hopefully flying(!) in Heaven.  🙂

Take Blarney Castle, for example.  Now, visitors from all over the world travel to the elusive and fabled “Blarney Stone” to kiss the lay-on-your-back, bend-backwards and downwards-stone to receive their Irish gift of gab.  But when Cormac McCarthy lived there in the 1400’s, he didn’t foresee all that.  He was just trying to keep Britain from taking the castle, by stalling, planning banquets for the invaders, and finally escaping attack by using the underground tunnels to go to Kerry and Cork.  He was living his life, and hopefully living it well.

So I’m not going to think about this any longer….I’m going to try to live my life today well, no looking back, and looking forward in hope.  And I pray the same for you.  Slainte, Lisa

Living Now

Animals are always therapeutic to watch.  They live life, unconcerned about what may happen tomorrow,  not mulling over what happened last week…mostly just thinking about now.  About food now, about a soft place to lay, about enjoying their walk.  Take these sheep for instance; they are eating, seemingly unaware of the impending cliff dropoff in front of them by only a few feet.  Yet amazingly they never got even close to falling off the whole time we were there.  Their little feet instinctively seemed to know where to walk.

I need to be a sheep.  Or my dog.  Just trusting, enjoying the now, and walking by the Light of God that guides me away from cliffs.  Blessings, Lisa

“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.” – Psalm 119:105

Heartsong

“To enjoy life you don’t need wealth or power but a song in your heart.”     ~Anonymous

“The Lord is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation.”   ~Exodus 15:2a

So….what is the song in my heart this morning?  It is a wonderful tune from Robin Mark, a worship leader from Northern Ireland, called All Is Well.  Praying that it blesses you as well.  Slainte, Lisa

Remnants, Memories

This is an abandoned home or inn nestled into the Gap of Dunloe in Ireland.  It was grand in size, and must have been a fine place in its heyday.  I love places like this; not sure why, but ruins always interest me more than perfectly preserved houses.  I don’t know who lived here; I wish I did, but someone remembers them and tells fine stories about good times spent within these walls.  Slainte, Lisa

P.S.  Moral of the story?  None of us are perfect; all of us have “crumbly bits.”  But “do not lose heart.  Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day.”  (2 Corinthians 4:16) Hope indeed.  🙂
