Running to the Sea

Near Bray’s Head, Ireland

I had the most amazing dream last night.  I was running, barefoot, quickly and effortlessly, on very soft grass towards blue water.  Smiling and laughing and generally feeling that feeling that you feel when you’re a kid and have no troubles.  (yes, I realize I just used “feeling” too many times) No worries, no aches or pains, no thought to the future other than reaching that water.  Dreams are funny; sometimes good, sometimes weird, sometimes scary, but always usually interesting.  My favorite dreams always have something to do with travel or movement; my favorite flying dreams, where I flap my arms and take off into the sky; the dreams where I am getting ready for a trip, and now this awesome running whiz dream.  🙂  So the point of today’s blog?  Hmmm….must think, must think.  No, I don’t want to think; I just want to be happy and remember that feeling of the grass under my feet.  Be happy today.  Slainte, Lisa

The Beauty of a Dream

God is faithful, and He showed me that again this morning.  Joshua, my oldest son, is going to James Madison University this morning, and I had been feeling rather blue about him not being around as much.  Yes, I am so proud of him; yes, I am excited for him, and yes, I also know that we will still see him a lot.  Yet, I found myself sitting around looking at pictures like this one…and you know the end result of that.  :\

Joshua, age 7, on a ramble in Ireland.

Yesterday, I wrote this quote on J’s facebook wall:

“God gives us dreams a size too big so that we can grow in them.” – Anonymous

This morning, on my daily inspirational flip calendar, there was this:

“The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.”  – Eleanor Roosevelt

Coincidence or God’s reassurance & plans for Joshua?  You know what I think.   Then I went outside to walk my sweet dog, and there were angel rays..those beautiful sun beams that shine through the lifting fog and kiss the ground.  And God knows that I love them.  It was like He was speaking very loudly to me of His love and care for me and our whole family.  So, to make a very long story shorter, I feel better…Joshua has exciting plans ahead, dreams to dream, and a purpose from God to fulfill.  And I get to watch it unfold.  How cool is that?  🙂  Slainte, Lisa

Rambles, Plans, Dreams

It doesn’t take much reading between the lines to figure out that I love to travel.  I adore planning out new holidays, pouring over travel books and reviews, searching the internet for the best deals.  I am a frustrated would-be pilot (maybe one day!), so I love the airport/flying part, the thrill of sitting in the airplane seat, feeling the roar of the immense engines as we tear down the runway for lift-off.  I love seeing the new sights, smelling the new smells (well, sometimes)  and trying out new foods.

I found a great passage from Last of the Donkey Pilgrims by Kevin O’Hara that encapsulates many of my thoughts:

” ‘Tis the beauty of travel, isn’t it,” she looked wistfully upon her poor but scenic domain, “seeing things you’d never see if you just kicked about the old place.  And you’ll take it all home with you, won’t you, these memories, and be all the better for it.  Well, be off with your rambling, so, and I’ll keep on with my dreaming.”

“It’s only a half-door you’re standing behind,”  I told her.  “You could easily hop over it.”

“Oh, I know,” she smiled, “but could I ever hop back in again?”

Enjoy your rambles, planning, and dreaming.  Slainte, Lisa

Far Away

“Far away, there in the sunshine, are my highest aspirations.  I may not reach them but I can look up and see their beauty, believe in them, and try to follow where they lead.”

-Louisa May Alcott

Keep dreaming, and praying, and reaching.  Slainte, Lisa
