Changes, But the Same Me, Kinda

174

Changes are weird.  We get tired of the same old thing, but when change comes, we sometimes do miss what was.

I have been having some of those big changes in the past few years.  Enough so that the blog feels like it has to change with me.  Like many of you, I am now living with a fair amount of daily pain and mobility challenges.  God has been very faithful and has carried me through each day.

So that is why I have renamed the blog, “Carried.”  When I can’t take another step on these weary legs, He carries me on to the end of my day.   I wake up anew each morning, knowing that I am stronger than before on the inside, more patient, happier with little things.  And that is all because Jesus is here beside me each step of the way.

I’m not exactly sure what this blog will look like in the coming days, as it’s definitely a work in progress.  As am I.  But I would love to encourage others that are going through the struggles of chronic pain and disabilities.  Not that I have all the answers, but I understand some of what you may be feeling.

If you need someone to talk to, or to reach out to, so that you know you are not alone, please write or comment.  I would love to hear from you.  Love, Lisa

If Timmy Can Do It…

There is a little donkey in Donegal who has stolen my heart.  Timmy was born this year at the Donegal Donkey Sanctuary with severe tendon problems in his back legs.  Why has he so captivated me?  I recently had my third surgery on my ankle to fix a an ongoing problem.  Timmy is improving, and as I watch him go, he encourages me to not give up and to keep going.  God bless animals for their uncomplaining spirits.  Blessings to you also on your journey.  Lisa

Learning to Walk Again…

It’s no small thing!  And I might say, from experience, much easier when you’re a child rather than a….well…..more advanced age.  😉  Quick update:  Since my ankle fusion revision and tendon transfer surgery in January, I’m out of the boot, back in tennis shoes, and working really hard every day to get my heel back down where it should be, and to get this rusty body to adapt to all the changes.  It’s been a long recovery with many months still to go, but I knew that going into it.  But isn’t it funny how it seems so much longer when you’re actually in it?  God is keeping me going, though.  🙂 And for that I am thankful.

Some quotes that amazingly seem to apply to other situations as well.

“If you can’t walk, be the bird.”  ~Lisa Lyons  (but I have to say, I haven’t made it off the ground yet..  haha)

“My leg hasn’t fallen off yet.”  ~Lisa Lyons  (after the “How are you doing?” question and should be said with heavy sarcasm for full effect)

“I walk slowly, but I never walk backward.” ~Abraham Lincoln

Thanks for listening….I appreciate all of my readers, and sincerely pray that you are blessed today.  Slainte, Lisa
