Counting the Shades of Green

County Antrim
Near Portmagee, Co. Kerry
Springtime in Virginia

How many shades of green can you count?

This is officially the time of year for me when I yearn for greens, for yellows, for color. So I look at our photographs, and remind myself that, yes, spring is coming.

It’s almost here….hang on. Love, Lisa

Portmagee, Co. Kerry

I have had a lovely morning of remembering. A musician and teacher from Cahersiveen, Ireland contacted me about the story behind “The Sheep of Portmagee,” a song I wrote in 2012, and for permission to include the lyrics in a local collection of songs about the area.

This was a quirky song I wrote, giving human feelings and adventures to said sheep. I used the Irish traditional “Gilderoy” for the tune.

What a wonderful three weeks it was…..it is great to remember good things on a cold, rainy day. Love, Lisa

Rock of Ages

“The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge.” – Psalm 18:1-2a

Near Glencolmcille, Ireland. Ed Lyons

“From the ends of the earth I call to you, I call as my heart grows faint; lead me to the rock that is higher than I.” – Psalm 61:2

Giant’s Causeway, Ireland. Ed Lyons

“Therefore, everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.” – Matthew 7:24-27

Where You Breathe the Best

Near Slea Head, Dingle, Ireland

I thought it would be fun today to find out where all of you dream/breathe the best. The place you travel to in your imagination. The place you would go to right now if there was no COVID in the world. It might be where you are right now, or it might be somewhere far away. Somewhere you have been, or somewhere you would love to go.

Let’s all travel together today virtually.

Ready….set…..write! 🙂 Love, Lisa

P.S. I did not say my place, as I know you guys already know! heehee 🙂

Dreaming

The best of dreams forms in my mind

The green, the blue, the grey

The castles long forgotten stand

The stones that go on forever

Sheep that roam, seemingly boundless

The laughter, the warmth, the people

The place I breathe and dream the best

Ireland

I dreamed last night about Ireland….so hence the poem. I am excited for the day when we can finally travel there again. But for now, I am going to pet my dog, call my husband, look out at our mountain, and listen for any winter birds that may be hanging around for a Virginia winter. Have a wonderful day, wherever you are in the world. Love, Lisa
