Amy Grant has had such a great influence in my life as a songwriter, a singer, and as a Christian. Back in college, I heard her blaring out from a dorm neighbor’s room, and I liked it. I didn’t listen to any Christian music back then, but I liked this. Her music helped me to understand more of who Jesus really was, and opened me up to truth. I had a great post ready this morning…a video of 1963 Ireland, complete with a wonderfully understated step dancer, an adept fiddler, and a very well-dressed early 60’s crowd. Happy birthday, America! The land of the free, the home of the brave…America, America, God shed His grace on thee, and crown thy good with brotherhood from sea to shining sea…And I’m proud to be an American, where at least I know I’m free, and I won’t forget the men who died who gave that right to me, and I’ll gladly stand up next to you and defend her still today, for there ain’t no doubt I love this land….God bless the USA!

Some mornings, or afternoons, or evenings, I just don’t want to sing. For a person who loves to sing, this is always weird and disconcerting. But when I feel like that, that is the very time that I need to sing the most. It lifts me out of the pity-party mode and into the God-party. 🙂
