Would You Rather…The Finale

rocksocean

All these choices I’ve posed this week has gotten me thinking about all sorts of things.  More serious choices where I don’t always get to pick the outcome, things that happen that affect the rest of what happens.  When I was a kid, I had a fairly serious operation on my ankle that left me laid up for a few months and kept me out of exercise for a year or so.  It caused me to have a lot of time on my hands to read and to play the piano, which I think caused me to have a deep deep love for each and affected who I became.  So, in a way, I’m thankful for that injury/surgery, because the pain resulted in a great thing in my life.  (although I wouldn’t have said that at the time)

Would you rather….a)live in an exotic locale with no close ties to family or friends or b)live in a normal (?) environment close to family and friends?

Would you rather….a) have responsibilities  or b) have no responsibilities, ever?

Would you rather….a) have a pain-free, trouble-free life  or b) go through some trials along the way?

Hard choices…praise God, we don’t usually have to pick these outcomes, because I would probably pick all the easy ones and stay immature all my life.  🙂  God in his mercy knows what we need and don’t need in our lives so that we can become more like Him.  We just need to trust, childlike, and try to enjoy the ups and downs.  (easier said than done, for sure)

May your trials and challenges all give you a beautiful ending. Hang in there.   Blessings, Lisa

Would You Rather…The Teaser

Would you rather…

….go paragliding    paraglide    or

….fly in an open cockpit airplane?planeAnd you have to pick one!  This is a short teaser of tomorrow’s post.  It was going to be today’s, but another early spring snowstorm wrecked the internet until now.  So get psyched, get ready, get your brain in gear…it’s coming, tomorrow morning. 9AM EST.  May your grass be green and your sky be sunny.  (please, for me, as it is not here.  🙂  )  Slainte, Lisa

Kind

I met a wonderful lady yesterday who cheered me immensely.  She is struggling with many physical ailments, yet had a kind word and a smile for me during her day.  We had a great conversation, and I hope that I also brought a little sunshine to her as well.  Kindness is so important…it takes a normal day in, day out existence and turns it into something beautiful.  I’m praying for more kindness, to be able to see the people around me better.

Nostalgia and Innocence

lawrence welk

I’m feeling nostalgic today, missing the innocence of years past.  I had an awesome dream the other night where I was recruited to sing at the “Lawrence Welk Reunion Show”.  Now some of you are saying, “Who’s Lawrence Welk?”  I grew up watching this show with my parents, sitting on the floor of my family room, listening to Guy & Ralna, the accordion guy Myron, the Champagne Lady Norma Zimmer.  Now, this is a major nerd alert warning, but we actually got to see the cast perform live when I was a child, and they autographed a picture for me afterwards.  I remember everyone smiling and so gracious and patient.  It was quite exciting.  Even now, if I think of the closing song, “Good night, sleep tight, and pleasant dreams to you…” I can get quite choked up.  🙂

lawrencewelk2Now to the sad part of the dream…everyone else that had been recruited as an extra for the Lawrence Welk show didn’t want to be there.  They were complaining that they wished they could sing on something relevant and more cutting edge.  And it made me sad.  Because, yes, sometimes the show (and others of its time period) could be cheesy and corny, but it was innocent and lovely and sweet.  Don’t miss the sweet and lovely and innocent things in your life; they are truly beautiful.  “Adios, au revoir, auf wiedersehen….good night!”  Slainte, Lisa
