Amazing Talent for your Thursday…Two Choices

For your Thursday’s listening enjoyment, I present Cara Dillon and her outstanding band, or…see below.  Check out the awesome low whistle solos in the middle and ending of the song.

For those of you who prefer a more pastoral video, here are some sheep, who may be talking, may be singing, or just may be hungry.  Regardless, they are cute and entertaining.  🙂

Stuck in the Gooey Gumdrops

So I played “Candy Land” with my 5 year old over the weekend.  And got stuck in the gooey gumdrops and the molasses swamp repeatedly.  Once you land on those dreaded black dots, you have to wait for the yellow card or the blue card to be drawn in order to move again.  So I continued to draw and wait, while my child laughed gleefully at my predicament and advanced towards winning.  (And she did win, twice in a row.  🙂  )

Later, I thought about how life is so much like that game sometimes.  We get stuck, or mired, or obsessed with some goal or object that we feel we have to obtain in order to move on.  And then we’re stuck in the gooey gumdrops.  Life continues to swirl on around us, while we’re just sitting and waiting and hoping for this thing that we think will make us happy.  When we finally draw the right card, it makes us happy, but usually only for a little while.  The only lasting thing that can make me happy long term and forever is Jesus.  He’s the only thing I need to get me out of the molasses swamp and into the abundant life that He longs for me to have.

Blarney Blog Log

First of all, you have to say the title of this entry three times, fast:

“Blarney blog log, Blarney blog log, Blarney blog log…”

Laughing yet?  Ok, I tried.  🙂

We found this log in a play area near Blarney Castle, Ireland.  It was surprisingly hard to climb up, but as usual, my guys showed their climbing skills off to great advantage.

“Climbing is as close as we can come to flying.”    — Margaret Young, aviator and alpinist

(Yes!  I got a flying reference in!  🙂  ) May your day be blessed, whether walking, riding, climbing, or flying.

For the Love of a Good Sheep Picture

For a person who owns no sheep, I certainly seem to be fascinated with them.  People who do own them tell me that they have their share of problems. (As do we all.)  But you have to admit, they are cute and furry, with their little plump bodies and small legs.  Hence, I have an excessive amount of sheep pictures.  Today, I am sharing two of my favorites with you.  And if you see a sheep today, baa happy.  Slainte, Lisa

It’s A Small World, Ireland Edition

We just returned from a fun family vacation to Disney World in Orlando, Florida.  And I must be a big kid, because I had just as good a time as my 5 year old daughter.  🙂  My very favorite rides are the two I loved as a child, “Peter Pan’s Flight” and “It’s a Small World.”  The first ride goes without saying…”FLYING!!!”  And Small World has all of those wonderful little dolls dressed up from around the world, singing to me in their languages as I float along peacefully in my little boat.  When we got to Ireland’s part, I had to laugh at the stereotypical representation of leprechauns and pots of gold at the end of the rainbow, but I still loved it.

I’m sorry if I have now caused you to sing “It’s a small world” in your head all day; you could always hum “You can fly; you can fly; you can fly” instead if you prefer.  🙂
