All the Feelings

Life is a roller coaster of days and emotions.  Good days, hard days, crazy busy days, happy, sad, confused.  The list goes on and on.

But I am so thankful for all the feelings.  All the wonderful crazy feelings that I feel.  What a gift from God.  Because I would rather feel and love and hurt and cry than feel nothing at all.

This day, this picture, was one of those feelings days.  Crying, laughing, loving, and wondering at majesty of creation all within seconds.  Imprinted in my memory forever.

Letting the Wind Hold You Up

There have been many memorable moments in our Ireland journeys where the wind felt like it was literally holding us up, pushing us along, carrying us on the distinctive Irish scent of salt air and green fields.  Moments that took your breath away, pushed all the worry far from mind.

The beauty of an isolated windswept beach, County Kerry.

Sometimes, the wind that feels like it could knock you down, actually holds you up.  And rewards you with beauty and clarity unknown before.

“He makes the clouds his chariot and rides on the wings of the wind.  He makes winds his messengers.” -Psalm 104:3b, 4a

Lean into the wind.  He will hold you up.  Love, Lisa

Letting Love Win

snoopy.jpg

Love can win, every time.

It is easy to get lost in blame, anger, resentment, self-pity.

It is hard to let go, to forgive, to love even if the other person isn’t sorry or doesn’t realize they’ve hurt.

But love frees, forgiveness lightens, God works through sacrifice.

Light will always shine brighter than the darkness.

Kindness can sift through the hardest ground.

Love can win, every time, if I will be open and not let my pride stand in the way.

(officially ended sermon to myself….hope it encouraged you as well.  🙂  )

A Tree Full of Good Thoughts

DSCN1758.JPG

One of my favorite things about our Christmas tree is that it is full of memories.  Most of the ornaments bring back a rush of remembrances and good thoughts that make me smile.  This particular ornament, for example:

Bought in a small shop in Dingle, Ireland in 2001.  We had gone to this shop around 1 PM, and saw a sign saying that they were away and would be back sometime in the afternoon.  (no time specified, which I thought was wonderful and so unusual to my American time-driven upbringing)  Sometime around 4 we went back and found this.  It sparkled so beautifully in the light, and we loved it.

Seeing it now, I am right back there, in that small intimate shop, with Ed and Joshua.  Good times, good thoughts flow through me, and I smile.

Merry Christmas to you and your family and friends.  Love, Lisa
