The Truth about Joy on a Rainy Monday Morning

Truth time.

The facts of this morning in my corner of the world:

  1. It’s raining….and has been raining for many days in Virginia.
  2. It’s Monday morning….enough said.
  3. I slept poorly last night, with many upsetting dreams.
  4. I want to eat toast and jam, but am trying to avoid sugar for ankle issues.

So….with these circumstances seemingly stacked against joy, I am trying my best to find very little things that bring joy. So far this morning:

  1. Warm Irish tea in a big mug.
  2. My favorite ever-present morning omelette.
  3. I made myself get on the exercise bike, reluctantly. But now I feel better.:)
  4. Singing some music, loudly. The two that made me feel the best this morning….”Amen (Reborn)” by for King and Country…..and “Happy Together” by The Turtles.
  5. Writing this blog. Always helps me feel better.

.”Then I shall give you rains in their season, so that the land will yield its produce and the trees of the field will bear their fruit.” – Leviticus 26:4

I am always happy to hear from any of you, your little ways to capture joy on a rainy Monday morning. Love to all of you, Lisa

Limitless Imagination

Rendezvous Bay, Anguilla

“To shut your eyes is to travel.” – Emily Dickinson

“The question is not what you look at, but what you see.” – Henry David Thoreau

“Laughter is timeless, imagination has no age, and dreams are forever.” – Walt Disney

I am so thankful for my imagination. It provides endless entertainment, thoughts, and travel. Imagination is not bound by the body’s constraints, monetary concerns, or COVID19 restrictions.

Books can fuel the imagination, as do movies set in wonderful locales. Even looking outside my window and noticing what my local yard birds are doing, provide endless “scope for imagination.” (Anne of Green Gables 🙂 ) Listening to their tweeting on this wintery, icy morning gets me imagining the conversation and the plan they have to find food and warmth. Maybe they are plotting a trip to a Florida beach as I type this. 🙂

As the weekend comes, I will be traveling and adventuring. In my imagination for now, and hopefully in reality in the months to come.

Love, Lisa

Please feel free to comment below and share your imaginings, your dream travel locations, your favorite travel memories….anything. We can share them together.

Portmagee, Co. Kerry

I have had a lovely morning of remembering. A musician and teacher from Cahersiveen, Ireland contacted me about the story behind “The Sheep of Portmagee,” a song I wrote in 2012, and for permission to include the lyrics in a local collection of songs about the area.

This was a quirky song I wrote, giving human feelings and adventures to said sheep. I used the Irish traditional “Gilderoy” for the tune.

What a wonderful three weeks it was…..it is great to remember good things on a cold, rainy day. Love, Lisa

“When you don’t feel like doing anything, just do something.” – Lisa Lyons, on a sleepy Monday morning 😉

Yes, it’s Monday. And regardless of how I feel, how tired I am, etc……this is the only chance I have to live this day. So I am writing, and looking out my kitchen window. The sun is very bright. Good thing. Yesterday’s snow is melting, yet glistening. Good thing. I have a warm house and had food for my breakfast, and lots of good Irish tea. Good thing.

Thanks be to God, who puts up with my tired, unmotivated self, and lets me begin to see something good and true in the day. Very good thing.

However you are feeling this morning, be kind to yourself. And I am praying that your day goes as smoothly as it can, that you have good tea at your disposal, and a fair view to look upon. Also, that tonight’s sleep will be better than the last. 🙂 Love, Lisa

Where You Breathe the Best

Near Slea Head, Dingle, Ireland

I thought it would be fun today to find out where all of you dream/breathe the best. The place you travel to in your imagination. The place you would go to right now if there was no COVID in the world. It might be where you are right now, or it might be somewhere far away. Somewhere you have been, or somewhere you would love to go.

Let’s all travel together today virtually.

Ready….set…..write! 🙂 Love, Lisa

P.S. I did not say my place, as I know you guys already know! heehee 🙂
