Summer Over? No Way!
Today is supposedly the traditional “end of summer.” A bummer statement if ever I heard one. Well, here at my home, it is still blazing summer hot with bright sunshine, and we’re all still in our happy summer clothes. And we’re probably going to stay in our summer clothes until the first frosts are upon us, loving every sunny and warm moment we can. So…in honor of the wonders of summer, here are a few of my favorite photos. Enjoy your day. Slainte, Lisa
P.S. I just realized that I said the word “summer” 5 times in this post…whoops, now I’ve used it six times! But as I cannot think of a better synonym, there it stands. 🙂
Journey of Love
What Angels See
Amy Grant has had such a great influence in my life as a songwriter, a singer, and as a Christian. Back in college, I heard her blaring out from a dorm neighbor’s room, and I liked it. I didn’t listen to any Christian music back then, but I liked this. Her music helped me to understand more of who Jesus really was, and opened me up to truth. Hope this song from her new album How Mercy Looks from Here is encouraging to you today, “If I Could See.” Great album. Blessings, Lisa
Running Down the Hill
Here is a picture of my oldest daughter running down a hill on Valentia Island. Remember when you were a kid (or maybe you did it yesterday) and it was so awesomely fun to run down a big hill, fast, almost out of control? I do, and I always loved it. What I didn’t love was the feeling at the bottom. I was usually alone, and looking up, there would be this immense (and much bigger suddenly) hill to climb back up. But I’d pluck up my childhood energy and go back up, and then guess what? Sometimes I’d do it again! 🙂
Sometimes I have times in my life that are like running downhill….seamless, effortless, no problems for a time. I’m running, I’m happy, no resistance. Other times are definitely the climbing back up part. I’m trudging, I’m resolved, I have the teeth gritted with determination to finish. But oh, the feeling when I make it back up to the top. The view, the feeling of accomplishment, and the knowing that downhills are coming again.
Whether you’re running down or headed up or simply enjoying the view, may God give you His joy and strength today for the journey. Slainte, Lisa
