You Can Run…

You can run, and you can hide….

IMG_3173

But we’ll find you and take that picture!  🙂

Sometimes we all wish we could hide away…hide from our past, hide from responsibilities, hide from pain.  Crazily, we sometimes even want to hide from God, thinking that He won’t want to see us after what we did/said/thought/etc.  But He’s always there, ready to forgive and let us start over.  He’s watching over us as a loving Father, protecting and thinking of us even when we don’t know it.

“If I say, ‘Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me,’ even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to You…..How precious to me are Your thoughts, O God!  How vast is the sum of them!  Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand, when I awake, I am still with You.” – Psalm 139:11-12, 17-18

How amazing that is to me…I pray heaps of blessings on your day today.  Slainte, Lisa

True, Noble, Lovely

“Whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy – meditate on these things.”            – Philippians 4:8

There are a lot of yucky, depressing, ugly and scary things in the world that try to steal my attention and terrify me.  It can happen by reading the news, watching TV, going to Walmart, even by revisiting things in your past that you’re not proud of.  But in Christ, I am a new creation, the old is past, the new has come.  He wants me to keep my eyes on Him, on the true and noble and lovely things that He has made and that are to come.  Like my dog when he’s cuddled up in his bed, looking like a big stuffed animal.  Like hugs from my sweet children who call me Mommy.  Like a kiss at the end of a hard day from the handsome man who loves me and married me.  Like a phone call from my parents, talking over life and realizing that we are so blessed.  The sun in the morning, a beautiful moon at night, fireflies outside my window.  True, noble, lovely.  Be blessed today, Lisa

A Word I Don’t Like

crossstorm

OK, that new weather word “derecho” is officially getting on my nerves.  It’s a new catch phrase being used with alarming frequency by the Weather Channel and Accuweather clans.  Part of my annoyance with this word is that for the first two days I told people about it, I was mispronouncing it.  I said, “DEH-ri-ko.”  Evidently it is a much more sophisticated word, “deh-RAY-cho.”  Live and learn.  The other thing that’s bugging me about this word is that it is a pretty big, scary straight line wind storm, and they keep saying it may head our way.

I think I will stop thinking about this word now, and think instead on my refuge, my safe harbor in any storm, my rock.  “For my soul trusts in You; and in the shadow of Your wings I will make my refuge, until these calamities have passed by.”  -Psalm 57:1  Yes, the storms will come and go, but Jesus remains the same forever.  Wherever you are today, pray, stay safe, and trust in God, your refuge.  Blessings, Lisa
