Trusting…Letting Go…Enjoying the Ride

Lake Boat
So many things in our lives are out of our control.  And I can tell you that I don’t like that, at all, but I know that it’s good for me.  Trust….let go….let someone else be in charge….enjoy the ride.  On this particular day, the adults all had to exit our lake boat as we were passing from one Killarney lake to the next through a shallow section.  But our guide let Joshua stay and enjoy the ride through with him.  Joshua, only 7 at the time, was unsure at first, but afterwards, he was all smiles and stories.  Trusting, letting go, and enjoying the ride.

There is a Bible passage that really helps me when I’m going through the uncontrollable waters:  “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you…..Since you are precious and honored in my sight, and because I love you….do not be afraid, for I am with you.”  (Isaiah 43:2,4a,5a)

Let go…trust your Guide…enjoy the amazing ride He has planned for each of us!  Slainte, Lisa

Building the Bridge

IMG_3283

An old man, going a lone highway,

Came, at evening, cold and Grey,

To a chasm, vast, and deep, and wide,

Thru which was flowing a sullen tide.

The old man crossed in the twilight dim:

The sullen stream had no fears to him;

But he turned, when safe on the other side,

And built a bridge to span the tide.

“Old man,” said a fellow pilgrim, near,

“You are wasting strength with building here;

Your journey will end with the ending day;

you never again must pass this way;

You have crossed the chasm, deep and wide –

Why build you the bridge at the eventide?”

The builder lifted his old grey head:

“Good friend, in the path I have come” he said,

“There followeth after me today,

A youth, whose feet must pass this way.

This chasm, that has been naught to me,

To that fair-haired youth may a pitfall be.

He, too, must cross in the twilight dim;

Good friend, I am building the bridge for him.

I pray that you have a wonderful, bridge-building kind of day.  Slainte, Lisa

What We’re Aware Of

The people in this village on St. Lucia were not aware of our small boat out at sea, and if they did see us, they probably thought, “Oh, another boat.”  We saw the village, the little dots of houses built into the hillside, but we thought, “Oh, what a nice little village,” took the picture, and gave the people there no more thought.  Yet all of the people on the boat had lives they were living and dealing with, and all of the people in the village had the same.  But we all get so wrapped up in what we can see, what we’re living and doing.  Somehow, it’s comforting to me to know that so many other people are going through similar things like me in this world.  I may not know them, but they’re there.  And God sees us all, and is guiding us through the maze, through the things we can’t see and aren’t aware of, to a beautiful ending.  Blessings, Lisa

Boats on the Blue

I love boats, and water, and boats, and water.  Hmmm…I see a recurrent theme there.  🙂  Just put me on a boat, big or small and let me move along on some water, big or small, and I’m a pretty happy girl.  Sun beating down on your face, sea spray blowing on your face, the gentle or not so gentle loll of the wake against the boat…ahh.  One of my very favorite and first memories of boating was with my uncle and cousin when I was young.  They had a motor boat on the Potomac and would take our family out in the summer for a picnic on the shore.  After dropping off the food and older relatives on the beach, my cousin would take us back out on the water, rev up the motor, and we would fly.  He’d hit boat wakes on purpose, and we’d scream happily.  Great memories.  🙂  Here are some of our favorite pictures we’ve taken of boats.  And if you are on the water today, enjoy every minute!  Slainte, Lisa
