Charlie Brown, Children’s Plays, Wooden Nativities

Christmas is almost upon us…15 more days.  It is so easy for me to get caught up in the decorating, shopping, cooking, etc. that I forget the reason that I love Christmas.  It’s the part of Charlie Brown Christmas where Linus gets up on stage and simply recites Luke 2, “…and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were sore afraid…”  It’s watching a Christmas play at my mom & dad’s church, and getting teary-eyed when a small child dressed up like Mary sings “Silent Night” in a pure and simple voice.  It’s looking at the wooden nativity set my husband’s family got in Germany, marveling at what the shepherds, Mary & Joseph all felt that night gazing at Jesus’ face and wondering what amazing and great things would happen in their lifetimes.

Running to the Sea

Near Bray's Head, Ireland

Near Bray’s Head, Ireland

I had the most amazing dream last night.  I was running, barefoot, quickly and effortlessly, on very soft grass towards blue water.  Smiling and laughing and generally feeling that feeling that you feel when you’re a kid and have no troubles.  (yes, I realize I just used “feeling” too many times) No worries, no aches or pains, no thought to the future other than reaching that water.  Dreams are funny; sometimes good, sometimes weird, sometimes scary, but always usually interesting.  My favorite dreams always have something to do with travel or movement; my favorite flying dreams, where I flap my arms and take off into the sky; the dreams where I am getting ready for a trip, and now this awesome running whiz dream.  🙂  So the point of today’s blog?  Hmmm….must think, must think.  No, I don’t want to think; I just want to be happy and remember that feeling of the grass under my feet.  Be happy today.  Slainte, Lisa

Plugging in the Lights

DSCN0005

Every evening before bed, my hubby and I walk around the house unplugging all the Christmas lights, and then each morning, we make the same circuitous route plugging them back in.  It would be rather ridiculous, if they weren’t so beautiful.  One minute, the tree is dark and drab, and with one quick electrical moment, Presto!  Beauty and sparkling lights everywhere.  The same old, same old house turns into a beautiful winter wonderland.  🙂

Some mornings, I forget to plug in the Light.  You know, the Light that turns me from drab Lisa into Presto! Lisa.  And my power source is always available, and never has outages unless I don’t plug in.  Jesus says, “I am the light of the world.  Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”  (John 8:12)  “Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.”  (Matthew 5:16)  Light extravaganza.  🙂  Slainte, Lisa

Gift from Heaven

gifts

Until yesterday, it has been pretty cold around here, requiring winter coats and heavy sweaters.  But then, out of the clear blue sky, came a 70 degree day, with sun no less!  And we’re going to have another of the same today.  🙂  When one of these days come upon you in the midst of coldness, it makes you immediately want to roll down your windows in the car, turn circles in the grass with your arms outstretched, and move all activities outside, pronto!  A gift from heaven above; God saying in a very small but wonderful way, “I love you; enjoy the day.”  Better than any wrapped gift I can think of.

So excuse me, I’m going to stop blogging now, and get ready to enjoy the day.  (although I’m teaching piano today…can I roll my big piano outside?  🙂 )  Slainte, Lisa

Here’s a lovely rendition of “Count Your Blessings” by Amy Grant & CeCe Winans.  This song helps me see those “heaven gifts” a little clearer.
