Every summer at the seashore, my sister and I would stand at the waves’ edge. We would plant our feet firmly in the sand, and let the waves’ power push our legs further and further down into the depths of the sand. We would giggle as our legs disappeared into the soft but encasing surface, struggling to stay upright as long as we could. We wanted to stay unmoving, unyielding to the pressures of the water, steadfast.
Steadfast. Strong. Unmoving.
Steadfast is my word for 2021. No matter what comes my way this year, I want to stay steadfast. I want to be faithful to my Lord come what may. I want to plant my feet in Him and not let the waters of this crazy world move me.
“And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.” – 1 Peter 5:10
Staying strong and firm will take more than I have. It will take Him. It will take being in His Word, a lot. It will take talking with Him daily. It will take a decision in my mind to focus on Jesus, and not the world. It is Him who is my strength, not me. It is God who is the rock who holds us steadfast.
Praying for your 2021 to be full of Christ. Stand firm. Love, Lisa
