Flying Free

Kell's Priory

Kell’s Priory

These birds are above, free, soaring high, not bound by the confines of the ground below.  When I see a bird, my soul cries out to be with them, to be weightless and feeling the wind carrying me.  God knows that we long for more, to experience that freedom.  That yearning we feel is what draws us forward and upward, waiting for the day we can truly fly, forever.  If you need release and forgiveness, Jesus wants to do that for you.  Just ask.  And you will know for sure that one day you will fly.  Until then, we have the birds to show us how it’s done.  🙂  Blessings, Lisa

“Out of my distress I called on the Lord; the Lord answered me and set me free.” ~Psalm 118:5

“If the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” ~ John 8:36

“I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” ~ John 10:10b

“After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air.  And so we will be with the Lord forever.”  ~1Thessalonians 4:17

Running the Race

“But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”  ~Philippians 3:13b-14

There are always hard things in life.  Things to face, things to conquer, things to forget.  So this verse always helps me a lot in trying to forget, in helping me to face challenges.  Life is a race, and I’m so excited that I’m heading towards Jesus at the finish line.  He’s standing there behind the ribbon, waiting, loving, helping me along all the way.  And as I run (walk, limp, hop) towards that finish, I am so hopeful.  Because this world sees things as winning versus losing, but Jesus sees my heart.  🙂  Blessings, Lisa

A Day in the Life of a Town

Ireland 2_0030

This is Cahir, Ireland, as seen from a bridge by Cahir Castle.  (which just happens to be my very, very favorite castle in Ireland)  An ordinary day in the life of a town, except that it happened to be a day that we stumbled upon the bridge, gazed down and took a picture.  Given the advantage of height and distance, we could see most of the street, the small cars, the delivery truck, the pedestrians on the sidewalks, the contrasting colors of the shops.  (I’ll give you one guess as to which is the souvenir shop!)

Time, distance, perspective can make things seem charming that are sometimes irritating when you are right in the middle of it.  🙂  The challenge is trying to remember that when I’m in the midst of the irritation.  Eventually, with enough space and time, it might end up being a good story and I will appreciate it better.    Blessings on your day, Lisa

Becoming More Beautiful

This is a sharp coral rock in Barbados, hurtful to touch, relatively untouched by the water.

This rock, on the same shore, has been smoothed and rounded by the constant force of the water across it at high tide.  It is softer, able to be stood upon by tender bare feet, an accommodating shelter of sorts.

Water is a relentless and powerful force that shapes, changes, and affects by its very presence.  Life gives us all lots of “water”…forces that change us.  We may not like the changes, we resist, but eventually, we realize….we’re stronger, we’re smoother, we’re more of a refuge for other people to seek, we’re more beautiful.  And I’m so thankful that God loves me enough to let me be more beautiful, more like Him.  Be blessed today, Lisa

“..What we will be has not yet been made known.  But we know that when He appears, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.”  ~1John 3:2b
