Standing on the edge of a cliff
Listening, waiting
Peace comes in a roar and whisper
Waves, rocks, wind
Stillness, time, stay

“Whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy – meditate on these things.” – Philippians 4:8
There are a lot of yucky, depressing, ugly and scary things in the world that try to steal my attention and terrify me. It can happen by reading the news, watching TV, going to Walmart, even by revisiting things in your past that you’re not proud of. But in Christ, I am a new creation, the old is past, the new has come. He wants me to keep my eyes on Him, on the true and noble and lovely things that He has made and that are to come. Like my dog when he’s cuddled up in his bed, looking like a big stuffed animal. Like hugs from my sweet children who call me Mommy. Like a kiss at the end of a hard day from the handsome man who loves me and married me. Like a phone call from my parents, talking over life and realizing that we are so blessed. The sun in the morning, a beautiful moon at night, fireflies outside my window. True, noble, lovely. Be blessed today, Lisa
When I was a child, I believed easily. I would look up at the leaves on the trees as I soared high on my wooden swing, see the sunlight piercing through them, and just know without thinking too hard that God was real and there. I said my prayers simply and without questioning at night, somehow knowing that Someone bigger than me was listening and watching out for me.
I think that’s what Jesus meant when He said we have to have faith like a child. Just trusting that all of this crazy life is taken care of by Someone bigger and smarter and more in control…not thinking so hard all the time. I still believe today, and I’m so thankful for that. Life is hard sometimes, and without Him, I wouldn’t know where to turn, who to give all these worries to who could handle them all. He is stronger, and He will never leave. Look up through the leaves today, feel the sunlight on your face, and just believe. Slainte, Lisa
“Were there no God we would be in this glorious world with grateful hearts and no one to thank.” – Christina Rossetti
If I was a sheep, I would eat the grass right in front of me, and then two steps ahead, and then two steps ahead of that.
If I was a sheep, I would walk around in green fields and find contentment with my sheep family.
If I was a sheep, I would lie down at the end of the day, or in the middle of a hot day, and sleep soundly.
If I was a sheep, I would come when my shepherd called me, because I know that he has the good food.
If I was a sheep, I would follow the other sheep and the shepherd into a new and better field without questioning.
I am a sheep, and Jesus is my shepherd. I just need to learn to listen and trust him better. Blessings, Lisa
