Sleep….Good

sleep1

Sleep…what’s not to like?  Blankets….good.  Pillows….good.  Total relaxation….good.  🙂  I had a great night’s sleep last night; mostly due to my hubby’s return from Africa all safe and sound.  God is so good.  Here are some of my favorite quotes about sleep.  (I realize that talking about sleep on a Monday morning borders on cruel and unusual punishment, but hey, it will give you something to look forward to for tonight. 🙂  )  Blessings, Lisa

“I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety.”  – Psalm 4:8

Helper, Hero, Friend

Throughout the Boston tragedy, the thing that stands out the most to me is the heroes, the first responders, the men and women on the street who stepped in to help those who were hurt.  People helping other people, not thinking about possible risk to themselves, but just doing what they could to be there for someone else.  And it might sound corny, but that is where hope and faith and love can be seen through pain.  The bad and evil cannot win, because Love trumps all.  Every time.  So this is just my small salute to those who helped, and will help today, and might help tomorrow.  It matters.  Blessings, Lisa

True heroism is remarkably sober, very undramatic. It is not the urge to surpass all others at whatever cost, but the urge to serve others at whatever cost. – Arthur Ashe

“…Encourage the timid, help the weak, be patient with everyone.  Make sure that nobody pays back wrong for wrong, but always try to be kind to each other and to everyone else.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:14-15

Kind

I met a wonderful lady yesterday who cheered me immensely.  She is struggling with many physical ailments, yet had a kind word and a smile for me during her day.  We had a great conversation, and I hope that I also brought a little sunshine to her as well.  Kindness is so important…it takes a normal day in, day out existence and turns it into something beautiful.  I’m praying for more kindness, to be able to see the people around me better.

“Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle.”  ~Plato

The Best Shepherd Ever

Weekends usually hold a lot of expectation for most people.  Time to relax, time to be with family, time to reconnect with friends, time to pursue some grand adventure.  And sometimes the expectation can be rather exhausting.  “What are we going to do this weekend?  I don’t know…what do you want to do?” etc.  Sometimes it’s good just to rest and recharge for the next week, and not have so many plans.  Here’s a great psalm for meditating on contentment and peace.

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not be in want

In the midst of your weekend, take a deep breath and just be….just be.  The best Shepherd ever is taking care of us.  Slainte, Lisa
