The Return of the Ents

DSCN1157

The Ents…those wonderful, wise, slow-talking trees from Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings trilogy…When I was growing up and reading (and re-reading) those books, I had a love/hate relationship with the Ent trees.  I always thought, “They are very smart and give good advice.”  But in the same breath I would wish that they would hurry up and say what they were going to say and get on with it.  (Pages and pages of talking trees)  In my life, I am much the same…sometimes I know that I’m probably learning something very wise and valuable, but I’m so impatient that I just want to learn it fast and be done with it.  But anyway, I saw this wonderful tree in the Elizabethan Gardens in Manteo, NC the other day, and immediately the Ents came to mind.  Whatever lesson you and I have to learn today, may we be patient and try to take it in graciously.  🙂  Blessings on your day, Lisa

Write Your Character

character

“With the story of your life, you don’t get to write the whole book, only your character.”  ~Olivia Munn

What an amazing quote.  The more I think about it, the more I like it.  Simple, but profound.  So much of my frustration in life comes from trying to “write” the characters/people that surround me, what they should say, how they should behave, what they maybe should do.  But that’s not in my control….I can only write me.  What I say, how I should behave, what I should do.  And sometimes I don’t even write myself too well, so that gives me plenty to “write” without trying to mess with anybody else.  🙂

Think about it.  I know I still am.  Blessings, Lisa

New Breath, New Chance

“If you make a mistake in a song, don’t forget every breath is a new beginning and a new chance.” – Julia Gregson, Jasmine Nights

micmorning

How true and beautiful.  A new day, a new beginning, a new chance.  A brand new morning, fresh and clean.  You can sing your song again and people will hear your new rendition.  Go ahead, take a deep breath, and let those notes come out.  I pray beauty and grace and love in every phrase, for me and for you.  Slainte, Lisa

Killarney

By Killarney’s Lakes and Fells

Edmund O’Rourke

By Killarney’s lakes and fells,
Emerald Isles and winding bays,
Mountain paths and woodland dells,
Mem’ry ever fondly strays;
Bounteous nature loves all lands;
Beauty wanders everywhere,
Footprints leaves on many strands,
But her home is surely there!
Angels fold their wings and rest
In that Eden of the west,
Beauty’s home, Killarney,
Ever fair Killarney.
