Before the Picture

Cruising around WordPress and oohing and aahing over the beautiful photography has left me wondering…..what happened before those wonderful photographs were captured?  We humans will go to extraordinary lengths to obtain that “perfect” shot, and those smiles we see weren’t always there two seconds before the shutter snapped.  I submit two photographs to make my case.  First shot:  Dingle, Beehive huts, Trying to get into the dwelling for the picture, dear husband hit his forehead hard on the immovable slab stone, letting out a big OWW! and then proceeded to smile his way through the picture.

pic54Next shot:  Cliffs of Moher…Family wants picture of me serenely on the cliffs, I on the other hand, have read all those signs saying to keep away from the unstable and windy edge and am saying, “This is fine….take the picture!”  And then I force the below smile on my face and Voila!

Lisa on Cliff

Later, we all look back at the photos and say “Aaahhh…wasn’t that an amazing time”; totally blocking out those moments before.  But that’s a good thing in my opinion; forgetting the bad, holding on to the good, and looking forward to adventures today.  Slainte, Lisa

An Alley

Ireland 2_0018

What is it about an alley that is so atmospheric?  From an objective perspective, they are cramped and darker.  But when you step inside an alley, (at least in the daytime 🙂  ) you feel as if you’ve stepped into a secret place that you have discovered.  Hidden away from the world for a time, you are ensconced in mystery and quaintness.  Here are two shots from a Kilkenny alley which has more charm than should be allowed by law.  Please ignore the date on the second picture, it is a mystery how that got on there…not the right date by a few years, and I never put the date feature on. Also disregard the unsuspecting walkers who had the nerve to disturb our picture taking.  😉  Oh well….more quirky details that adds to the memories and the story of the alley.   Have a blessed day.  Slainte, LisaIreland 2_0016

Trusting…Letting Go…Enjoying the Ride

Lake Boat
So many things in our lives are out of our control.  And I can tell you that I don’t like that, at all, but I know that it’s good for me.  Trust….let go….let someone else be in charge….enjoy the ride.  On this particular day, the adults all had to exit our lake boat as we were passing from one Killarney lake to the next through a shallow section.  But our guide let Joshua stay and enjoy the ride through with him.  Joshua, only 7 at the time, was unsure at first, but afterwards, he was all smiles and stories.  Trusting, letting go, and enjoying the ride.

There is a Bible passage that really helps me when I’m going through the uncontrollable waters:  “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you…..Since you are precious and honored in my sight, and because I love you….do not be afraid, for I am with you.”  (Isaiah 43:2,4a,5a)

Let go…trust your Guide…enjoy the amazing ride He has planned for each of us!  Slainte, Lisa

Which Way Is Up?

Ireland 2_0014
Have you ever taken a picture, then gone back and totally forgotten what it is, what angle it was taken from, and even which side is up?  Well, here is an example of just such a picture.  I know that it was taken in Powerscourt Gardens in Wicklow, and I know that the year was 2001.  That’s about all I know.  🙂  I have posted it in the direction that seems the most likely, but who knows really?  Anyway, I thought it would be fun to get feedback….is it the right way?  What is it?  Chime in and tell me what it is I’m looking at!  If you don’t know, make up something interesting to make me laugh!  Slainte, Lisa

Flying Free

Kell's Priory

Kell’s Priory

These birds are above, free, soaring high, not bound by the confines of the ground below.  When I see a bird, my soul cries out to be with them, to be weightless and feeling the wind carrying me.  God knows that we long for more, to experience that freedom.  That yearning we feel is what draws us forward and upward, waiting for the day we can truly fly, forever.  If you need release and forgiveness, Jesus wants to do that for you.  Just ask.  And you will know for sure that one day you will fly.  Until then, we have the birds to show us how it’s done.  🙂  Blessings, Lisa
