“I am beginning to learn that it is the sweet, simple things of life which are the real ones after all.” ~Laura Ingalls Wilder
My simple things this morning: a cup of caramel cappuchino, my daughter playing Perplexus at the kitchen table in her new ballerina robe, my dog sleeping blissfully, the quiet of the house before the day begins, my nice steaming hot shower this morning, a hug, an omelette. The challenge for me is always keeping sight of those simple kinds of things in the busyness of the day. Maybe I should “preplan” my simple things, so that I’m looking for them. The cows on the side of the road as I drive, the neighbors’ goats that dive their whole bodies into the stack of hay to eat, the sun that is planning to come out today warming me, talking to my husband on the phone at work, smiles, laughing at the funny oddities in life. Those are a few of my simple, real things I’m going to look for today. I pray that your Christmas was a blessed time with friends and family, and that your simple things abound today. 🙂 Blessings, Lisa
Just how many little ones, and big ones, have just stood and silently studied the waves as they do their thing of rearranging the beach for the next wave, or the next generation? It is one of those simple things, as you call them, that have stimulated my mind to think about all the wonders that God put into such a little, repetitive event. Then just when you are comfortable along comes the REALLY big wave. (Just to make sure you are awake, I guess.)
