What Am I Worth?

“The value of a person isn’t measured on an applause meter; it’s measured in the heart and mind of God.”  ~John Fischer

As a singer/songwriter, it’s all too easy to get caught up in rating your applause meter.  Before I knew that God loved me unconditionally, irregardless of my performance, that’s how I worked, lived, was motivated.  And I tell you, it’s no way to live.  One mistake and you’re feeling pitiful about yourself, berating yourself at every lukewarm reception.  But Jesus sees me differently.  He loved me way before I took notice of Him.  I can mess up every note, every song, and He will not change in His feelings toward me, the child that He has made.  And that makes me priceless, untouchable by applause or lack thereof.  Child of God, person made and loved by the King of the entire world.  Way too much for my mind to fully understand, but what parts I can take in, I cherish.  Blessings on your day today, Lisa

“This is what the Lord says: ‘I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with loving-kindness.’ ” ~Jeremiah 31:3

“To those who have been called, who are loved by God the Father and kept by Jesus Christ: mercy, peace and love be yours in abundance.” ~Jude 1-2

The Sandy Path

940

Soft, sandy paths feel good on bare feet, but they are hard to walk on.  The sand gives way underfoot, causing all the other muscles to work harder to gain momentum.  (good workout though!)  Hard packed sand, however, is great to walk on.  Rocky paths are difficult, because you need to watch your step carefully so there are no turned ankles on the way.

No matter which type of path you’re walking today, the end of the path is worth it.  There are oceans to be seen, seagulls flying overhead, and mountain vistas abounding.  Walk the path, and hold tightly to the hand of God, who will give you the strength you need for the path you’re traveling.  Slainte, Lisa

Light Over Darkness

“All of the darkness in the world cannot put out the light of one small candle.”  ~Unknown

Dark night, no moon, no stars, just blackness.  You feel as if nothing could cut the dark.  But as soon as someone lights one little candle, or pushes the switch on a flashlight, what was once dark is light.  Just like that.  Fear is gone, relief comes.  Light.  Hope.  Future.  Peace.  May God fill your heart and mind with His light today.  Lisa

“You, O Lord, keep my lamp burning; my God turns my darkness into light.” ~Psalm 18: 28

“In Your light we see light.”  ~Psalm 36:9b

The Serious Business of Joy

I heard a quote by Gareth Gilkeson of Rend Collective, a praise band out of Northern Ireland, that really made me stop and think.

“We need to get down to the serious business of joy….seriousness is not one of the fruits of the spirit, but joy is.”

I love, love, love, love this.  Oh, did I mention that I love this?  🙂  Too many stony-faced Christians (and yes, I’ve been guilty of this on occasion); not enough pure, unadulterated, all-encompassing, I-can’t-believe-Jesus-loves-me JOY!

“God’s peace is joy resting.  His joy is peace dancing.” (F.F. Bruce)  Dance in your spirit today….the God who made the whole entire immense universe cares about you.  No matter what problems you are facing, and we all have big ones sometimes, that is something to hold on to…something to bring you joy.  Blessings, Lisa

Streams of Living Water

…”Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, ‘If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink.  Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him.’ ”  ~John 7:37

Drinking fully, deeply, quenching thirst, not just for a moment but forever.  Never running out, an endless supply of mercy for every moment, every day.  That’s love, that’s Jesus.  Blessings, Lisa
