In Your Own Company

DSCN3694.JPG

It’s a wonderful thing to be at peace in your own company.

I know we need others, to reach out and encourage and help and be there.  But isn’t it a great feeling to come home, to hear the silence envelop you for a moment, to feel the familiar things, sit in your favorite chair with a cup of tea, and just rest alone?

This is all strictly speaking as an introvert, of course; you extroverts out there might be horrified at the mere look of this post.  My only advice is to exit this as quickly as possible.  🙂  Introvert or extrovert, may you truly have a peaceful day, filled with the good gifts that only God can give.

Grandfather Hill

I don’t know the real name of this hill, but Grandfather Hill seems to suit it.  Wise, overlooking, steady, mature.  I feel kindly towards this hill.

The naming of inanimate objects continues….I fear that I will not recover from this particular malady.  😉  Slainte, Lisa

P.S. The hill is located near the Giant’s Causeway in Northern Ireland, if anyone knows its proper name.

Trusting When the Ground Shakes

This is Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge in County Antrim, Ireland.   It stands 20 meters long and sways 30 meters above the rocks below.  The current bridge, built in 2008, can hold 8 people at a time, and gives a dizzying thrill of a walk to visitors crossing over to the tiny island of Carrickarede.  There are some visitors that had to leave the tiny island by boat, due to fear of walking back across the bridge again.  But most people do just fine, trusting that the makers of the bridge knew what they were doing.

We all go through things in our lives that feel like that bridge, shaky, dizzying, uncertain, high above the ground.  Who made you, who made this whole world and the things in it that sometimes feel so shaky?  The Lord God, Maker of the Universe, is the best builder, and in Him all things are held together.  And we can cross to and fro, to and fro, trusting the Builder to know what He’s doing.  Even if we’re freaking out and whining and screaming, He’s calm and in control.  Giving us the trust we need to take that step right onto the bridge.

Holding on tightly today, Lisa

“For in Him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities, all things have been created through Him, and for Him.” ~Colossians 1:16
